Detailed Description
The ATD-30334 uses a 1/5 HP motor to drive balanced aluminum blades for strong air movement and comparatively quiet operation. The oscillating motor moves the fan head from side to side, helping distribute air instead of concentrating it in one fixed direction.
Main components include the front guard, rear guard, fan blade, motor, motor frame bracket, swivel plate, wall bracket, pull switch, mounting hardware, washers, nuts, cotter pin, and guard fasteners. The swivel plate connects the fan assembly to the wall bracket and allows the airflow angle to be adjusted vertically.
The mounting arrangement can be configured for oscillating or non-oscillating operation. The fan guard must remain installed and securely fastened whenever the fan is operating.
Safety
- Read and understand all instructions before assembling or operating the fan. Keep the manual for future reference.
- Use the fan indoors only. Do not expose it to rain, damp conditions, wet surfaces, or water.
- Connect the grounded three-prong plug only to a properly installed and grounded outlet that matches the fan nameplate voltage.
- Never remove or alter the grounding prong, use a two-prong adapter, or modify the plug.
- Do not use an extension cord with this fan.
- If the work area lacks a permanently installed GFCI outlet, use a plug-in GFCI between the fan and the receptacle.
- Keep hands, fingers, tools, clothing, and other objects away from the moving blades.
- Never operate the fan without both protective guards correctly installed and locked.
- Do not use the fan with a mister or spray attachment.
- Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, foot traffic, and moving parts.
- Do not carry, pull, or unplug the fan by its cord. Grip the plug when disconnecting it.
- Inspect the cord, plug, guards, and other parts before use. Do not operate the unit if anything is damaged or missing.
- Keep the fan away from open flames, cooking equipment, and other heating appliances.
- Use close supervision when children are near the fan.
- Switch the fan off before plugging it in. After a power interruption, turn the switch off before power is restored to prevent unexpected startup.
- Unplug the fan before moving it, removing guards, making adjustments, changing parts, cleaning, or performing service.
Setup and Installation
The wall-mounted fan is intended for installation on a wall stud or a solid concrete wall. Do not mount it to drywall or another hollow wall surface. Use the mounting hardware supplied with the product and position the fan near a suitable grounded outlet without using an extension cord.
Mounting the Wall Bracket
- Attach the swivel plate to the wall bracket using the provided mounting hardware.
- Locate a suitable wall stud or solid concrete mounting position.
- Hold the bracket in position and mark the mounting-hole locations.
- For concrete, drill holes matching the diameter of the wall anchors. Insert the anchors until flush with the wall, position the bracket, and tighten the screws into the anchors.
- For a wall stud, drill pilot holes smaller than the mounting screws, position the bracket, and drive the screws securely into the stud.
Assembling the Fan
- Remove the four sets of hex nuts, spring washers, and bowl washers from the motor. Keep the hardware for reassembly.
- Position the rear guard on the motor with the opening in the guard frame at the bottom.
- Secure the rear guard using the removed hex nuts, spring washers, and bowl washers.
- Install the fan blade on the motor shaft and tighten both blade screws firmly.
- Join the front guard to the rear guard with the clips around the front-guard rim. Align the bottom openings in both guards.
- Secure the guards together with the screw and nut at the bottom.
- Insert the swivel plate into the motor-frame bracket and secure it with the designated mounting fasteners.
- Use the tilt fasteners to set the desired vertical airflow angle. Loosen the specified adjustment fastener before changing the angle, then tighten it securely.
- Set the mounting fastener arrangement for oscillating or non-oscillating operation as required.
Operation
- Confirm that the fan is fully assembled, securely mounted, and free of damaged or missing parts.
- Make sure the speed control is in the 0, or off, position.
- Connect the three-prong power plug to a standard 120-volt AC grounded outlet.
- Pull the power chain once to select low speed, marked 1.
- Allow the fan to run for approximately 10 seconds before pulling the chain again to select medium or high speed.
- Continue pulling the chain to cycle through the available speed settings.
- Adjust the head vertically by loosening the tilt fastener, positioning the fan, and retightening the fastener.
The motor may feel warm during normal operation. It includes thermal protection and will shut off automatically if it overheats. If the automatic shutoff activates, disconnect the fan from the power outlet immediately and allow it to cool before inspecting the unit.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Unplug the fan before cleaning or servicing it.
- Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to wipe the fan surfaces, then dry them with a clean cloth.
- Do not use harsh or damaging cleaners.
- Do not bend the aluminum blades.
- Remove dust from the guard with a vacuum cleaner, or remove the front guard when necessary.
- After cleaning, reinstall the front guard and restore every safety component to its original position before reconnecting power.
- Never immerse the motor in water.
Troubleshooting
The Fan Does Not Start
- Check that the speed control is not in the off position.
- Verify that the plug is fully inserted into a properly grounded 120-volt outlet.
- Inspect the power cord and plug for damage. Do not operate the fan if either is damaged.
The Fan Shuts Off During Use
- The motor may have activated its automatic overheating protection.
- Disconnect the fan immediately and allow it to cool.
- Check that the guards and blades are free from excessive dust or obstructions before attempting further operation.
- If the problem continues, stop using the fan and have damaged or defective parts evaluated by qualified personnel.
The Fan Vibrates or Runs Excessively Noisily
- Switch off and unplug the fan.
- Confirm that the blade screws, guard fasteners, mounting hardware, and wall bracket are tight.
- Check that the guards are correctly aligned and locked together.
- Do not operate the unit if a blade, guard, bracket, or other structural part is bent or damaged.
Warranty
The ATD-30334 is covered by a one-year limited warranty beginning on the original purchase date. For covered defects in materials or workmanship occurring during normal use, the product may be repaired or replaced at the manufacturer’s option.
The warranty does not cover altered, abused, misused, modified, or improperly serviced products. It also excludes normal wear items and cosmetic damage such as scratches, superficial dents, and paint abrasions. Retain the purchase receipt or invoice as proof of purchase.
