Detailed description
The main hood body contains the blower, control panel, lighting and metal grease filter. During ducted operation, the blower draws vapour through the filter and sends the extracted air outside through the exhaust outlet and connected pipe.
The lower and upper decorative chimneys conceal the wall connection and ducting. The upper chimney slides inside the lower section so the assembly can be adjusted to the installation height. A charcoal filter can be installed instead of an external exhaust connection when the hood is configured for recirculation.
The supplied installation hardware includes a hood fixing bracket, chimney fixing bracket, wall plugs and two types of screws. The optional reducer flange is used when connecting a 120 mm exhaust pipe to the hood outlet.
Safety
- Use the appliance only for normal household cooking. It is not intended for commercial kitchens, barbecue areas or roasting businesses.
- Keep naked flames away from the hood. Set gas flames so they remain beneath the cookware and do not spread around its sides.
- Never flame food beneath the hood because this creates a serious fire risk.
- Monitor deep-fat frying continuously. Overheated oil can ignite.
- Accessible parts can become hot when the hood is used above cooking appliances.
- Children aged eight or older and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities may use the hood only when supervised or instructed in safe operation. Children must not play with the appliance.
- Children must not clean or maintain the hood without supervision.
- Before installation, confirm that the mains voltage matches the rating plate. Class I installations require a correctly earthed domestic supply.
- When installed above a gas appliance, maintain at least 650 mm between the cooking surface and the lowest part of the hood, unless the gas hob instructions require a greater distance.
- Do not discharge air into a flue used by appliances that burn gas or other fuels.
- Provide adequate ventilation when the hood operates with non-electric appliances. Kitchen make-up air must enter from an opening that communicates directly with the outside.
- Room negative pressure must not exceed 0.04 mbar when the hood is used with appliances supplied by energy other than electricity.
- Follow all applicable regulations for air discharge. A damaged power cord must be replaced by suitably qualified personnel.
Setup and installation
Plan the mounting position
Installation should be performed by a competent installer. Incorrect fitting can cause damage or unsafe operation. Mark a vertical reference line from the centre of the hob towards the ceiling or the upper installation limit.
- Mark horizontal line A between 970 and 1070 mm above the cooker top.
- Mark horizontal line C 243 mm below line A.
- Position horizontal line B according to the chimney height required for the installation.
- On line A, mark two points 80 mm from the vertical reference line, checking that both points and the centre reference are level.
- On line B, mark two points 60 mm from the vertical reference line and confirm that they are level.
- On line C, mark two points 100 mm from the vertical reference line and confirm their alignment.
Fix the brackets and hood
- Drill the marked mounting holes using a 10 mm drill bit.
- Insert the supplied wall plugs.
- Attach the hood fixing bracket to line A using three 5 x 50 mm screws.
- Attach the chimney fixing bracket to line B using two 5 x 50 mm screws.
- Connect the exhaust pipe to the hood body. Use a 120 mm connection with the reducer flange where necessary, or use a 150 mm connection when suitable.
- Hook the hood body onto its fixing bracket and check that it is level.
- Remove the grease filter and install the additional fixing screws at the lower mounting points.
- Fit the lower decorative chimney over the hood connection.
- Slide the upper decorative chimney into position up to the chimney fixing bracket.
- Secure the chimney sections to the bracket with the supplied 4.2 x 9.5 mm screws.
Ducted and recirculation installation
For ducted operation, keep the exhaust route as short and direct as possible. Secure the pipe with suitable clamps, which are not supplied. Remove any activated charcoal filter before using the hood in ducted mode.
For recirculation operation, fit the optional activated charcoal filter after removing the metal grease filters. Air is cleaned through the grease and charcoal filters before returning to the kitchen.
Operation
- Use the lighting control to switch the hood lights on or off.
- Use the motor control to start or stop extraction.
- Select motor speeds 1, 2 or 3 for progressively stronger extraction.
- The speed sequence cycles through 1, 2, 3 and boost before returning to speed 1.
- Boost provides the highest extraction setting for heavy steam or strong cooking odours.
- The display indicates the selected fan setting using 1, 2, 3 or b.
- A displayed 0 indicates that the fan is not running or the hood is in standby, depending on the control state.
- The delayed-shutdown function keeps extraction running and switches the motor off automatically after three minutes.
- When the delayed-shutdown indicator is active, select the relevant control again to cancel or complete the timed shutdown according to the control response.
- Some control versions use flashing indicators to show that the motor and lights are being switched on together.
Cleaning and maintenance
Disconnect the hood from the mains supply or switch off the circuit before cleaning, replacing filters or carrying out any maintenance. Regular maintenance reduces grease build-up and helps prevent a fire hazard.
Metal grease filters
- Clean the metal filters at least every two months. Clean them more often after frequent or heavy cooking.
- The filters may be washed in a dishwasher.
- To remove a filter, push it towards the rear of the hood while pulling it down.
- Do not bend the filter during washing or handling.
- Allow each filter to dry completely before refitting it.
- Install the filters with their handles facing outward and ensure they are seated correctly.
- Long-term colour changes on the filter surface do not necessarily reduce its filtering performance.
Activated charcoal filter
The activated charcoal filter is intended for recirculation use. It cannot be washed or regenerated. Replace it approximately every four months, or sooner when the hood is used heavily.
- Remove the metal grease filters.
- Take out the saturated charcoal filter.
- Fit the replacement charcoal filter.
- Reinstall the metal grease filters.
Hood and LED lighting
Wipe the hood with a damp cloth and neutral liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive products or allow water to enter the electrical components.
The complete LED light module must be replaced if the lighting fails. Disconnect the appliance or switch off the circuit breaker before working on the lights because the electrical contacts can remain live.
- Remove the grease filter.
- Remove the two front-plate screws with a cross-head screwdriver.
- Disconnect the LED terminal.
- Press the light module from the rear of the front plate and remove it.
- Fit a compatible commercially available 1.5 W LED module.
- Reconnect the light terminal and leads.
- Secure the front plate and refit the grease filter.
Troubleshooting
- Light works but the motor does not: Check whether the fan blades are blocked. The capacitor, motor or internal motor wiring may require professional replacement or repair.
- Neither the light nor motor works: Check the light module and confirm that the power cord and internal connections are secure. Electrical wiring work should be completed by a qualified person.
- Unpleasant smell: Inspect the grease and charcoal filters and clean or replace them at the required intervals.
- Oil leakage: Check whether the outlet and ventilation connection are sealed. Remove the outlet connection and reseal it with suitable adhesive or sealant.
- Excessive vibration: Inspect the fan blade for damage, ensure the motor is firmly secured and tighten the hood mounting points.
- Insufficient suction: Check the selected speed, filter condition and duct route. Confirm that the hood is not mounted too far above the cooking surface and reduce excessive cross-ventilation from open doors or windows.
- Hood inclines: Tighten the fixing and hanging screws, then recheck the hood with a level.
Disposal
Do not dispose of the cooker hood with unsorted household waste. Electrical and electronic equipment should be collected separately so that its materials can be recovered and recycled correctly. Follow the collection arrangements available through the local authority, retailer or household waste service.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Available in two widths, supports ducted or recirculation installation, offers three standard speeds plus boost, includes integrated LED lighting and uses washable metal grease filters.
