The digital thermometers are intended for the measurement and monitoring of human body temperature by doctors or consumers in the hospital or home.

What is a “Normal” temperature?

Although the generally accepted “normal” temperature reading is 37.0˚C/98.6˚F, temperature readings can vary from 36.1˚C/97.0˚F to 37.2˚C/99.0˚F and still may be considered “normal”. Variations in temperature can be attributed to activities such as exercise, smoking, eating, and drinking. Your temperature is lower in the morning than in the afternoon. Other variations may be due to the location of the temperature reading. While the oral temperature follows the guidelines previously described, a rectal temperature is generally 0.5˚C /1.0˚F higher. Conversely, an axillary (under the arm) temperature will be 0.5˚C /1.0˚F lower.

How to Take Your Temperature

1. Press the ON/OFF button to activate. The unit will beep and display (or ). This LCD display test will go on for around 2 seconds.
2. Then, the temperature taken last time will be displayed with a “M” mark in the right corner.
3. Then, 37.0˚C (or 98.6˚F) will appear.
4. When Lo and flashing ˚C (˚F) displays, the thermometer is ready for temperature measuring. But if the room temperature is higher than 32.0˚C (89.6˚F), the room temperature would be displayed instead of Lo.
5. The beep will sound when temperature measuring is complete.
6. Press the ON/OFF button to turn off the unit. (The unit will automatically power off approximately ten minutes after use.)

Taking an Oral Temperature

• Place the probe tip under the tongue as near as possible to the heat pocket.
• Approximate measuring time: 30 seconds.
• Note: The oral temperature is slightly higher than the external temperature (about 0.3˚C or 32.54˚F).
• Suggestion: Close your mouth at least 2 minutes before taking the temperature for a more accurate measurement.

Taking an Underarm Temperature

• Wipe the underarm with a dry towel and place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin with the thermometer perpendicular to the body. Put the arm across the chest so the probe tip is well covered.
• Approximate measuring time: 10 seconds.
• Note: Underarm temperatures are generally 0.5˚C or 32.9˚F lower than oral readings.
• Suggestion: Close your armpit at least 5 minutes before taking the temperature for a more accurate measurement.

Taking a Rectal Temperature

• Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the probe cover. Gently insert the probe (MAXIMUM ½”) into the rectum.
• Approximate measuring time: 20 seconds.
• Note: The rectal temperature is slightly higher than the external temperature (about 0.5˚C or 32.9˚F).

Replacing the Battery

The battery in your digital thermometer needs to be replaced when “T” appears in the lower right corner of the display. Replace the battery with a 1.55V, LR41 alkaline or SR41 silver oxide type or equivalent.

To Replace the Battery

1. Pull the battery cover away from the unit.
2. Remove the battery holder.
3. Use a non-metal pointed tool to remove the battery and insert the new battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
4. Replace the battery holder.

5. Carefully slide the battery cover back into place.

   

Warning: Properly dispose of the battery away from small children and heat.

4. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust, or humidity. Avoid extreme temperatures.
5. Avoid dropping or subjecting the thermometer to strong shocks.
6. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit, except to replace the battery.
