How to Use: Max EH-70F II Electronic Stapler Instruction Manual
Content
Overview
The EH-70F II Electronic Stapler is a heavy-duty desktop stapling machine for offices, copy rooms, print departments, schools, and other workspaces that regularly bind large paper sets. Its motor-driven mechanism automatically feeds staples and handles 2 to 70 sheets of suitable PPC paper, while automatic and manual modes support both routine and edge-position stapling.
The stapler uses a replaceable MAX No. 70FE cartridge and can staple at approximately two staples per second. Its adjustable throat depth helps position staples consistently for documents of different sizes.

Detailed Description
The main body contains the motorized stapling mechanism, staple-feeding system, and paper-positioning components. A case cap covers the cartridge and internal stapling area. The machine will not staple while the case cap is open, providing an additional operating safeguard.
The paper table supports documents during insertion. The selector switch changes between automatic and manual operation. A manual button activates a staple when manual mode is selected. The LED lamp displays the operating and cartridge status: green indicates that the stapler is ready to activate, while red indicates that the staples have run out.
A depth control slider adjusts how far the paper enters the stapler. The top mark identifies the center of the horizontal stapling position, helping users align a document before inserting it.
Safety
Electrical and operating precautions
- Read and retain the instruction manual before using the EH-70F II Electronic Stapler.
- Use only the supplied AC adapter designed for AC 100 to 240 V, 50 to 60 Hz operation.
- Connect the machine directly to a suitable single outlet. Do not overload the outlet or share it with high-power equipment such as an air conditioner, refrigerator, microwave, or office machine.
- Never connect or disconnect the power plug with wet hands.
- Keep the power cord free from heavy objects, and disconnect the machine by holding the plug rather than pulling the cord.
- Do not operate the stapler if it smokes, produces an unusual sound, or gives off an abnormal odor. Disconnect it immediately and arrange for qualified service.
- If water enters the machine, unplug it immediately. Do not continue operating it.
- Do not disassemble or modify the stapler.
- Never insert fingers, pens, wire, or other foreign objects into the housing or stapling area.
- Never touch the white activation switch by hand. The stapler may activate suddenly and cause an injury.
Installation and handling
- Use the machine indoors in a dry location.
- Place it on a stable, level surface away from vibration, dust, high humidity, direct sunlight, and heat sources.
- Do not use or store the stapler where temperatures fall below 0°C (32°F) or rise above 40°C (104°F).
- Do not cover the stapler with paper or cloth.
- Disconnect the power cord before moving the machine or leaving it unused for an extended period.
- Clean dust from the power plug regularly.
- Keep staple cartridges away from children. If a child swallows a staple, seek medical attention promptly.
Cartridge and paper precautions
- Use only the MAX No. 70FE staple cartridge.
- Staple PPC paper only. Do not force materials or paper types that exceed the machine's intended use.
- Disconnect the power cord before replacing a cartridge or clearing a staple jam.
- Do not touch the motor immediately after stapling because it may be hot.
- Wash skin promptly with soap if grease contacts your hands or body during cartridge replacement.
Setup and Operation
Preparing and loading the cartridge
- Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Before inserting the cartridge, pull off its lower stopper in the indicated direction.
- Inspect the cartridge. If the staple sheet extends from the cartridge, push it back inside. An exposed staple sheet can cause a jam.
- Open the case cap on the stapler.
- Insert the cartridge in the loading direction shown on the machine.
- Close the case cap securely.
- Reconnect the power cord.
Automatic stapling
- Move the selector switch to Auto.
- Set the insertion depth between approximately 6 and 18 mm (1/4 and 3/4 inch).
- To adjust the depth, loosen the depth control knob and move the slider to the desired position.
- Turn the knob to LOCK after adjustment. Leaving it in UNLOCK can cause the stapling sensor to malfunction or become damaged.
- Align the document with the center mark on top of the machine, or move it left or right to select the desired horizontal position.
- Insert the paper. The stapler detects the paper and activates automatically.
Manual stapling
Use manual mode when stapling close to the paper edge, particularly at an insertion depth of approximately 3 to 6 mm (1/8 to 1/4 inch).
- Move the selector switch to Manual.
- Pull the paper table toward you.
- Place the paper on the table and insert it to the selected depth.
- Press the manual button to complete the staple.
Corner stapling
- Insert the corner of the paper into the stapling position.
- With the depth set to approximately 6 mm (1/4 inch), the staple position will be about 12 mm (1/2 inch) from the paper edge.
During the first use, the machine may make approximately five to seven empty strokes while feeding staples into the stapling position. This behavior is normal and does not indicate a fault.
LED status
- Green: The stapler is ready to activate.
- Red: The cartridge is out of staples and must be replaced. Paper cannot be stapled while this condition remains.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Wipe dirt from the housing with a dry cloth.
- Do not use water, solvents, alcohol, benzene, thinner, or a damp cloth on the machine.
- Keep the stapler on a level, dry surface and protect it from dust, moisture, heat, and vibration.
- Do not exceed 70 sheets of the specified paper. Capacity can vary with paper type, and forcing an oversized stack may damage the mechanism.
- During prolonged continuous use, the motor may become hot and the stapler may temporarily stop stapling. Switch it off and allow at least 30 minutes for cooling before resuming operation.
Replacing the Staple Cartridge
- Disconnect the power cord from the outlet.
- Open the case cap.
- Hold the used cartridge and pull it upward to remove it.
- Install a new MAX No. 70FE cartridge.
- Close the case cap and reconnect the power cord.
If a partially used cartridge has been removed and its staple sheet is exposed, push the sheet back into the cartridge before reinstalling it. Do not load broken or shortened staples, and do not reuse loose staples. Avoid touching the staple sensor and feeding roller.
Troubleshooting
The stapler does not operate when paper is inserted
- If the LED is red, replace the cartridge with a No. 70FE cartridge.
- If the LED is blinking red, disconnect the power plug immediately and arrange for repair.
- If the LED is off, close the case cap firmly.
- Verify that the specified AC adapter is connected correctly.
- Confirm that the No. 70FE cartridge is seated properly.
- If the selector is set to Manual, move it to Auto for automatic operation, or press the manual button when manual operation is intended.
The stapling cycle runs, but the paper is not stapled
- Confirm that the cartridge contains new No. 70FE staples.
- Insert discarded copy paper several times, approximately five to seven cycles, to feed staples into position.
- If a partially used cartridge has an exposed staple sheet, remove the cartridge and push the sheet back into its magazine before reinstalling it.
- If staples are jammed, unplug the machine and follow the jam-clearing procedure.
Clearing a staple jam
- Disconnect the power cord from the outlet.
- Open the case cap.
- Remove the staple cartridge by pulling it upward.
- Press inward on the green lever at the front of the machine.
- While holding the lever, lift the opener handle.
- Remove the jammed staples carefully.
- Push the opener handle back down to its original position.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Handles up to 70 sheets, offers automatic and manual modes, supports adjustable stapling depth, staples at approximately two cycles per second, and uses a high-capacity 5,000-staple cartridge.
- Pros: The automatic paper sensor simplifies repetitive office stapling, while manual mode supports staples placed close to an edge.
- Cons: It is intended for specified PPC paper and MAX No. 70FE cartridges rather than general-purpose staples or materials.
- Cons: The motor requires a cooling period after extended continuous operation.
- Cons: Safe cartridge replacement and jam clearing require unplugging the machine before accessing the internal mechanism.
