Detailed Description
The remote sends infrared commands to the receiver on the indoor air-conditioning unit. Aim the front of the RG10R Remote Controller toward the unit when pressing a button. A beep normally confirms that the unit has received the signal.
The main controls include ON/OFF, MODE, TEMP, FAN SPEED, SWING, TIMER, SET, OK, CLEAN, LED, TURBO, and ECO/GEAR. Depending on the version and indoor unit, the remote may also provide Breeze Away, Fresh or UV-C lamp, Sleep, Follow Me, AP, Silence, and other options.
Operating Modes
- AUTO: The air conditioner selects cooling, fan, or heating operation according to the selected temperature and room conditions. Fan speed cannot be manually selected in this mode.
- COOL: Lowers room temperature to the selected setting.
- DRY: Helps reduce humidity. Fan speed is automatically controlled.
- HEAT: Raises room temperature on units that support heating. Cooling-only systems do not respond to this mode.
- FAN: Circulates air without temperature control. The temperature field may remain blank in this mode.
Safety
- Use the remote within 8 m of the indoor unit and keep the infrared path clear.
- Curtains, other objects, and direct sunlight can interfere with signal reception.
- Do not combine old and new batteries or use different battery types together.
- Remove the batteries if the remote will remain unused for more than two months.
- Dispose of used batteries according to applicable local requirements rather than placing them with unsorted household waste.
- Do not assume every button applies to every air conditioner. The indoor unit determines which functions are available.
- If this guide conflicts with the air conditioner’s own owner’s manual, follow the owner’s manual for that unit.
Setup and Operation
Install or Replace the Batteries
- Slide the rear battery cover downward to open the compartment.
- Insert two R03/LR03 batteries, matching the positive and negative markings inside the compartment.
- Slide the cover back into position.
- Point the remote at the indoor unit and press ON/OFF to test operation.
Basic Operation
- Press ON/OFF to start or stop the air conditioner.
- Press MODE repeatedly to select AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, or FAN.
- Use the temperature buttons to increase or decrease the setting in 1°C or 1°F increments. The available range is 60 to 86°F (16 to 30°C).
- Press FAN SPEED to cycle through the available automatic or manual fan settings.
- Point the remote toward the unit and wait briefly for the command to be received.
Change the Temperature Display
Press the temperature increase and decrease buttons together for approximately three seconds to switch the remote display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Adjust Airflow Direction
Press SWING to start or stop automatic horizontal louver movement. On supported units, repeatedly pressing the button can select from several airflow positions. Hold the button for more than two seconds to activate vertical louver swing when that feature is available.
The Breeze Away function, when supported, is intended to reduce direct airflow toward the body. It is available only in supported COOL, FAN, and DRY operations.
Set the Timer
The timer can switch the unit on or off after a selected period.
- Press TIMER to begin setting either the start or stop timer.
- Press the temperature increase or decrease button to choose the delay.
- Press the remote button again as required and aim it at the indoor unit to transmit the setting.
- Set the timer to 0.0 hours to cancel it.
From 0 to 10 hours, the timer changes in 30-minute steps. From 10 to 24 hours, it changes in one-hour steps. The selected period is measured from the current time, not as a clock time.
Energy-Saving Functions
Press ECO/GEAR to cycle through the available energy modes. The sequence can include ECO, GEAR at 75%, GEAR at 50%, and the previous setting. These functions are intended for supported COOL operation.
In ECO operation, the remote may automatically select 75°F (24°C) and automatic fan speed when the original temperature setting is below 75°F. If the original setting is above 75°F, the fan can change to automatic while the temperature remains unchanged. ECO operation may stop when the mode or temperature is changed.
GEAR operation limits electrical energy consumption to the selected level. The selected energy setting may return to the temperature display after several seconds.
Quiet Operation
Hold FAN SPEED for more than two seconds to activate or deactivate Silence mode when supported. Reduced compressor frequency can lower operating noise, but cooling or heating capacity may also be reduced. Pressing ON/OFF, MODE, TURBO, CLEAN, or starting Sleep mode can cancel Silence operation.
Turbo and Super Heat
Press TURBO to use the strongest available airflow for faster cooling or heating. In heating operation, compatible units with electric heat elements may also activate those elements.
On supported models, hold TURBO for more than five seconds during HEAT or automatic heating to start Super Heat operation. Hold it for more than three seconds to stop the function. Super Heat is intended to accelerate heating at low outdoor temperatures and may position the louver at a wide angle.
Active Clean
Press CLEAN to start or stop Active Clean when available. The process helps remove dust, mold, and grease from the heat exchanger by using a freezing and rapid-thawing cycle. The indoor display may show “CL,” and the unit can stop automatically after approximately 20 to 45 minutes.
Fresh or UV-C Lamp
Use the SET button to select Fresh or UV-C lamp operation when the indoor unit provides that feature. Depending on the model, the function may activate an ionizer, a UV-C lamp, or both.
Sleep Mode
Select Sleep through the SET function menu and confirm with OK. Sleep mode is intended to reduce energy use while maintaining comfortable conditions during rest. It is unavailable in FAN and DRY modes.
Follow Me
Follow Me allows the remote to measure the temperature near its current location and send that reading to the air conditioner at approximately three-minute intervals. Select Follow Me through SET, then press OK to confirm.
Holding OK for three seconds can enable or disable Follow Me memory on supported units. The feature can remain active through ordinary mode changes or a power interruption when its memory function is enabled.
AP Mode
Select AP mode through the SET menu when the air conditioner supports wireless network configuration. On some units, pressing LED seven times within ten seconds can also enter AP mode.
LED Display and Buzzer
Press LED to turn the indoor unit’s display on or off. On supported models, the same control can also enable or disable the air-conditioner buzzer for quieter operation.
Holding LED for more than five seconds may switch the indoor display between the actual room temperature and the selected temperature. This function is available only on certain units.
Lock Function
Hold CLEAN and TURBO together for more than five seconds to lock the remote. While locked, other buttons do not respond. Repeat the same two-button action for at least two seconds to unlock it.
FP Function
On compatible heat-pump systems, press CLEAN twice within one second while the unit is in HEAT mode with the temperature set to 60°F (16°C). FP operation runs the fan at high speed while the compressor operates and automatically sets the temperature to 46°F (8°C).
Pressing ON/OFF, MODE, FAN, or a temperature button, or starting Sleep mode, cancels FP operation.
Remote Display Indicators
The display shows only the symbols relevant to the current operation. Depending on the model, indicators can include:
- Transmission status when a signal is being sent
- Selected operating mode
- Timer ON and Timer OFF status
- Automatic, low, medium, high, or percentage-based fan speed
- Temperature, timer period, or fan setting
- ECO, GEAR, Silence, Turbo, Sleep, and Lock status
- Horizontal or vertical swing status
- Active Clean status
- Fresh or UV-C lamp status
- Follow Me and wireless-control status
- Low-battery warning when the battery symbol flashes
In AUTO or DRY mode, fan speed may be controlled automatically. In FAN mode, the temperature display can be blank because no temperature setting is used.
