INSTALLING AND REMOVING CO2 CAPSULES

Installing 12g CO2 Capsules

1. Make sure the airgun is “ON SAFE”, unloaded, and pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION. Turn the pressure relief valve counter-clockwise to loosen.
2. Remove the relief valve assembly. 
3. Before installing a CO2 capsule, place one drop of RWS Chamber lube on the top of the small end of each CO2 capsule.
4. Insert two (2) 12g CO2 capsules as shown. 
5. Replace the relief valve assembly. 
6. Tighten the pressure relief valve to pierce the CO2 capsules.

Installing an 88g CO2 Capsule

1. Make sure the airgun is “ON SAFE”, unloaded, and pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION. Loosen the CO2 assembly by rotating it counterclockwise. NOTE: Degas the CO2 assembly before removing.
2. Remove the entire CO2 assembly.
3. Insert and screw in the 88g CO2 capsule. 

Removing 12g CO2 Capsules

1. Make sure the airgun is “ON SAFE”, unloaded, and pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION. Turn the pressure release valve counter-clockwise to loosen.
2. Once all air has been discharged, remove the relief valve assembly. 
3. Remove the CO2 capsules and discard.

Removing an 88g CO2 Capsule

1. Make sure the airgun is unloaded and pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION. 
2. Shoot off any remaining CO2 and put the airgun "ON SAFE".
3. Allow any remaining gas to vent by slowly unscrewing the capsule counterclockwise. Be careful to avoid all contact with escaping gas.
4. Remove the CO2 capsule.
   NOTE: A slight seepage of CO2 may occur until the pithe ercing screw is tight.

 USE AND HANDLING OF CO2 CAPSULES
Certain conditions may affect a CO2 capsule, which can impact its proper performance. These conditions include the usage, maintenance, and storage at temperatures that are higher or lower than normal outdoor temperatures 
(60º-80º F/16º-27º C). Another condition may be when the airgun is fired rapidly.

1. High temperatures can increase pressure in the CO2 capsule and also within the airgun, leading to higher than standard operating pressure. This excess pressure could cause the gun to malfunction or be permanently damaged. The maximum storage or operation temperature should never exceed 122° F 
   (50° C). This temperature can be reached if you leave the airgun under direct sunlight on a bright day. Thus, to ensure proper gun operation, do not expose it to 
   high temperatures or direct sunlight for long periods of time. Otherwise, the CO2 capsule could overheat and explode, which could damage the airgun and cause injuries or death to people around it.
2. Fast consecutive shooting may produce a decrease in temperature in the airgun, as well as the CO2 capsule. This could result in lower projectile velocities and may even lower gas pressure enough so that the air rifle will not fire. This condition can be especially apparent when shooting in cold weather and can be avoided by allowing more time between shots. This permits the gas to increase in temperature and pressure and produce normal velocities.
3. During rapid fire, the muzzle velocity of each shot will diminish. This can affect shooting accuracy, and you will get fewer shots per CO2 capsule.
4. Care should be exercised to ensure that the airgun is not shot with a CO2 capsule that is low in pressure. Here are some indicators of insufficient pressure:
   1. The sound of the shot is not as loud as when the capsule is full.
   2. The projectile hits the target, but in a lower position than it would with a full CO2 capsule (that is, the shooting speed has dropped).

LOADING YOUR AIR RIFLE

1. Make sure the airgun is “ON SAFE” and pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION. Cock the air rifle by pulling the bolt back all the way. The rifle should click,,k indicating it is cocked.
2. Load a pellet and rotate one space. Continue loading and rotating until nine (9) .177 caliber pellets are carefully loaded into the rotary magazine. 
3. Insert the magazine. 
4. Push the bolt forward and down to seat the pellet.

AIMING AND FIRING SAFELY

• Always aim your air rifle in a SAFE DIRECTION. Always choose your target carefully. It is best to shoot at a paper bullseye target which is attached to a safe backstop. A heavy blanket should be hung behind the target backstop to prevent ricochet should you miss the backstop. Think about what you will hit if you miss the target.
• When you are absolutely sure your air rifle is aimed at a safe target and you are ready to fire, put your air rifle “OFF SAFE” (see SECTION 3. OPERATING THE SAFETY). Squeeze the trigger.
• NOTE: Many factors affect airgun performance and velocity, including brand of projectile, lubrication, barrel condition, and temperature.

TROUBLESHOOTING 

Unloading a Pellet 
Fire the pellet at a SAFE TARGET to unload the airgun. If this is not practical, put the air rifle “ON SAFE”, cock the bolt back to open the breech, and push the pellet from the chamber by running a cleaning rod through the muzzle end. Insert 2 RWS Cleaning Pellets and discharge into a safe target. 

Removing a Jammed Pellet 

• NEVER LOOK DOWN THE MUZZLE.

If a pellet is jammed in the barrel, DO NOT reload the air rifle.

1. Cock the air rifle (by pulling back on the bolt), push the bolt forward, and lock. Point the air rifle in a safe direction.EDIRECTION: ON, put the air rifle in the “OFF SAFE” position and squeeze the trigger to fire. 
2. If the air rifle is still jammed, remove the CO2 from the air rifle (see Section 4).
3. With the bolt locked back, insert the correct caliber ramrod into the muzzle and push the jammed pellet out. Do not try to reuse that pellet. If you are not able to unjam your air rifle, contact Umarex USA’s Service Department.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

NEVER STORE A LOADED OR COCKED AIRGUN. Unload a pellet from the airgun. Keep the air rifle away from children and untrained shooters. Store pellets separately from the air rifle to keep them from untrained shooters. Protect your air rifle from moisture and dirt; clean the airgun and wrap it in a smooth, dry cloth. If you are going to store your airgun for an extended period of time, be sure the barrel is protected. This can be accomplished by coating the bore with RWS Spring Cylinder Oil. Always use a soft cloth and insert the cleaning rod from the breech end on break-barreled rifles. Remove the oil completely before the next use. REMEMBER: Always check to see that the airgun is unloaded when getting from storage or from another person. 

With care and routine inspections, your airgun will provide many sessions of shooting enjoyment. Abuse, neglect,, and continued exposure to the elements will impair the performance of any airgun.
Your Umarex® Air Rifle is designed to fire pellets only. We recommend the use of RWS Pellets because of their superb accuracy and dimensional uniformity. The correct caliber is clearly indicated on the rifle.

WORKING PARTS: The working parts (bolt and safety) require very little lubrication. Two (2) drops of RWS Air Chamber Lube every 1000 shots will suffice. Place a drop of oil on the o-ring of the relief valve assembly. The wearing surface, es such as the 
CO2 reservoir threads, and the trigger mechanism should be lubricated with RWS Spring Cylinder Oil. Remember, a little is good—a lot is not better.
BARREL: In day-to-day use, very little dirt or residue will accumulate in the bore. This can be removed by using RWS Cleaning Pellets. NOTE: High-quality RWS Lead Pellets not only increase accuracy, but they also help to reduce lead deposit. During periods of regular use, the bore of the barrel should be cleaned periodically by means of a felt wad or a cleaning rod with a wool mop. Wire brushes should not be used. Insert the rod from the muzzle end.
SURFACE: The exposed metal parts (receiver, CO2 reservoir, screw heads, barrel, etc.) are a gun blue finish and MUST be wiped clean using a slightly oiled cloth after handling to prevent rust. Use light acid acid-free, and resin-free oil. RWS Spring Cylinder Oil is excellent for this.
