INSTALLING THE CO2 CYLINDER

  1. Put the launcher in SAFE mode, remove the magazine, zine, and make sure there is no projectile in the breech (refer to “BREECH INDICATOR” on page 16).
  2. Point the barrel in a safe direction. Remove the CO2 cap using the cap tool (built into the magazine base).
  3. Insert a new unused CO2 cylinder into the CO2 chamber and use your finger to push the cylinder firmly to the back of the chamber.
  4. Replace the cap using the cap tool. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE CAP. The cap should sit flush with the body of the launcher.

REMOVING THE CO2 CYLINDER

  1. Put the launcher in SAFE mode, remove the magazine, and make sure there is no a projectile in the breech, (refer to “BREECH INDICATOR” on page 16).
  2. Point the barrel in a safe direction and release any remaining CO2 gas by unscrewing the CO2 cap with the CO2 cap tool (built into the magazine base).
  3. Remove the CO2 cap and use the O2 cylinder.
  4. Replace the CO2 cap.

LOADING & UNLOADING THE MAGAZINE

  • LOADING THE MAGAZINE:
    Hold the magazine with the projectile retaining bar facing away from you. Insert the projectiles into the top opening of the magazine. Only slight pressure is required to push the projectiles past the projectile retainer bar.
    Repeat Step 1 until the desired number of projectiles have been inserted, up to the maximum capacity noted on your magazine.
  • UNLOADING THE MAGAZINE:
    While holding your hand over the top opening of the magazine to receive the exiting projectile, gently pull down on the projectile retainer bar.

INSTALLING THE MAGAZINE

  1. Make sure the breech indicator is down and the breech is empty (Refer to “BREECH INDICATOR” on page 16).
  2. Align the top of the magazine with the magazine well, and make sure the CO2 cap tool is facing the rear of the launcher.
  3.  Insert the magazine into the magazine well of the launcher, pushing upward until you hear a click and the magazine locks in place.

REMOVING THE MAGAZINE

  1. Always keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction when removing the magazine.
  2. Put the launcher in SAFE mode.
  3. Position your hand under the magazine to stop the magazine from dropping when it exits the launcher.
  4. Firmly depress the magazine release button.
  5. Remove the magazine.
  6. Make sure there is no a projectile in the breech. If the breech indicator is in the raised position, press the breech indicator down to clear the breech (refer to “HOW TO CLEAR A LOADED BREECH” on page 17).

USING THE BREECH INDICATOR:
The Byrna launcher is equipped with a breech indicator that allows the user to quickly identify whether a projectile is currently loaded in the breech of the launcher. The instructions below illustrate how to recognize the current breech status and how to clear the breech of a projectile when desired.

  1. Place the launcher in SAFE mode.
  2. Remove the magazine from the launcher.
  3. Hold your hand under the magazine well to receive the exiting projectile.
  4. Press the breech indicator button down to release the projectile.

MAINTENANCE

Basic maintenance should be performed every 500 shots, or as needed. A list of currently approved maintenance procedures can be found at byrna.com/maintenance. For any service not listed, please contact customer service. The Byrna launcher features a 1-year limited factory warranty that may be voided if unauthorized service is attempted, the launcher is modified, or used with unauthorized projectiles or unauthorized gas cylinders.

  • Note: Byrna Launchers require lubrication with the Byrna oiler kit every 10 CO2 Canisters.
  • STEP 1 Make sure to wear appropriate eye protection,n andandthen follow the instructions: 
  • Confirm the safety lever is engaged, (refer to “SAFETY OPERATION” on page 9). 
  • Confirm the CO2 cylinder is removed, (refer to “REMOVING THE CO2 CYLINDER” on page 11). Confirm the breech is cleared, (refer to “BREECH INDICATOR” on page 16).
  • STEP 2 Place the oiling guide into the CO2 chamber. 
  • STEP 3: Insert the oiling tool into the CO2 chamber.
  • STEP 4 Squeeze the oil bottle gently to dispense 2-3 drops of oil. Do not overoil.
  • STEP 5 Operate the launcher, (refer to “LAUNCHING PROJECTILES” on page 18). Operating the launcher immediately after oiling allows air to force oil through the entire launcher. This step can be performed without firing any projectiles if preferred (i.e. , with an empty magazine); however, make sure to observe all warnings and safety precautions.
