Content
Overview
The GLWL08B Pocket Work Light or Spotlight is a compact LED light designed for repairs, maintenance, workshops, vehicles, camping, and other tasks where portable illumination is needed. It provides both a wide-area work light and a focused spotlight, with several positioning options for hands-free use.
The light can operate with four AAA alkaline batteries or a compatible Genesis 8V lithium-ion battery pack. Its rotating kickstand, magnetic base, hanging hook, and tripod fitting make it practical for illuminating work surfaces, confined spaces, and distant areas.

Detailed Description
The GLWL08B combines two LED lighting patterns in one housing. The broad work light spreads illumination over a 120-degree area, making it suitable for benches, cabinets, engine bays, and nearby work zones. The narrower spotlight uses a 15-degree beam to direct light toward a more distant or specific target.
The main light components are identified below:
- Spotlight: The focused forward-facing light for longer-range illumination.
- Work light: The wide-angle light for close-range area lighting.
- Kickstand: A rotating support that helps aim the light and allows hands-free positioning.
- Switch button: The control used to turn the unit on, turn it off, and select lighting modes.
- Battery locking tab: The release mechanism for removing the AAA battery holder.
- Magnetic base: A mounting surface for attaching the light to compatible ferrous metal surfaces.
- 1/4-inch thread fitting: A mounting point for a compatible tripod or stand.
- AAA battery holder: The removable holder for four AAA batteries.
- Spring-loaded hanging hook: A retractable hanging point for suspending the light where a flat surface or magnetic mounting point is unavailable.
The kickstand rotates through 360 degrees, allowing the beam to be directed without moving the entire light. Use the magnetic base for metal surfaces, the hook for overhead or suspended placement, or the 1/4-inch fitting when a tripod-mounted setup is preferred.
Safety
Read and understand all operating instructions and warnings before using the light. Improper use can cause eye injury, battery leakage, fire, electric shock, or serious personal injury.
- Do not look directly into either LED light.
- Never aim the LED beam directly at another person’s eyes.
- Children should use the light only with adult supervision.
- Follow the battery manufacturer’s instructions when installing, using, or storing batteries.
- Install batteries according to the positive and negative polarity markings.
- Do not charge alkaline batteries.
- Do not short-circuit battery terminals.
- Do not combine new and used batteries. Replace all batteries together.
- Do not mix battery brands or battery types.
- Keep batteries away from children and do not throw them into a fire.
- Remove batteries if the light will remain unused for several months.
- Keep the lithium-ion battery away from fire, heat, water, direct sunlight, and hot vehicles.
- Protect a lithium-ion battery-powered light from strong impacts and shocks.
- If a lithium-ion battery catches fire, do not use water. Use an appropriate fire extinguisher.
- Store the product between 41°F and 77°F (5°C and 25°C).
- Dispose of used batteries through a suitable recycling facility or according to local regulations.
Setup and Operation
Installing AAA Batteries
- Slide the battery locking tab to release the AAA battery holder from the light.
- Place four AAA alkaline batteries into the holder.
- Match each battery’s positive and negative ends with the polarity symbols inside the holder.
- Reinsert the loaded battery holder into the light until it is properly seated.
Installing the 8V Battery Pack
To use the Genesis GLAB08B 8V lithium-ion battery pack, insert the pack into the bottom of the light. Push it into position until it locks with an audible click. Do not attempt to use alkaline batteries and a lithium-ion battery pack as combined power sources.
Selecting a Light Mode
Press the switch button once to activate the light. Continue pressing the button to move through the operating sequence:
- Work light, high output
- Work light, low output
- Spotlight
- Off
The work light’s high setting is intended for maximum nearby illumination, while the low setting extends operating time when less brightness is needed. Select the spotlight mode when a concentrated beam is more useful than broad-area lighting.
Positioning the Light
- Rotate the kickstand to aim the light at the desired angle.
- Place the magnetic base against a suitable metal surface for hands-free lighting.
- Pull out the spring-loaded hook to hang the light from an appropriate support.
- Attach a compatible tripod or stand to the 1/4-inch threaded fitting when elevated or precisely positioned lighting is required.
Troubleshooting
The light does not turn on
- Press the switch button repeatedly to move through the complete mode sequence.
- For AAA operation, remove and reinstall the battery holder.
- Check that all four AAA batteries are installed with the correct polarity.
- Replace all four AAA batteries together if they are depleted.
- For lithium-ion operation, remove and reinstall the battery pack until it locks securely into place.
The light turns off sooner than expected
- Use the work light’s low setting when maximum brightness is not necessary.
- Install a complete set of fresh, matching AAA batteries.
- Confirm that batteries have not been mixed by type, brand, or age.
- Allow a lithium-ion battery to cool if it has been exposed to excessive heat before using it again.
The light is difficult to position
- Adjust the 360-degree kickstand instead of moving the entire unit.
- Use the magnetic base only on a suitable clean metal surface.
- Use the hanging hook or a compatible tripod when the magnetic base cannot provide a secure hold.
Warranty
The product is covered against defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the purchase date. The limited warranty does not cover normal wear, neglect, misuse, or accidental damage. Coverage applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable. Accessories and batteries included with the kit are excluded from the two-year warranty.
