INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This window fan has been designed to fit double-hung, slider, and casement windows. For safety, we recommend you leave your window screen in place.  

For double-hung and slider windows
Note: For slider windows, set the fan vertically in your window opening, with the left side at the bottom.  

1. Set the fan into your window opening.
2. If the fan does not fit snugly to the top and bottom of the window casing, attach the included extender panel(s) and pull out the built-in extender screen until the fan sits safely in your window (See Figure 2).
3. To keep the fan in place, carefully close the window so that the bottom edge of the window rests on the flat area on the top of the fan.

For casement windows
For a safe fit, you will need a specially designed mounting bracket.  This, and the needed hardware, can be provided to you free of charge.  Installation instructions are included with the bracket. Please call the Consumer Service number located at the end of this manual.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

• For 24” to 27”: Use up to 3” of the right side, pull out the extender panel
• For 28” to 34”: Use one 3” extender panel on the left side. Adjust the pull-out extender on the right side for a tight fit (from .5” to 7”).
• For 35” to 37”: Use two 3” extender panels on the left side. Adjust the pull-out extender on the right side for a tight fit (from .5” to 7”).
• Larger than 37”: Additional extender panels will be required.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Your fan is equipped with the technologically advanced “1 Touch” Accutemp thermostat. This feature will automatically turn the fan “on” or “off” depending on the preset comfort level. The comfort level ranges between 60° and 80° Fahrenheit.

• Plug the fan into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
• Set the individual fan motors on either INTAKE, EXHAUST, or AIR EXCHANGE using the control lever(s).
• To start the unit and run continuously, push the button once for the High setting and press the button twice for the Low setting.
  NOTE: AIR FLOW DIRECTION CAN BE ALTERED WITHOUT TURNING THE FAN OFF.
• To stop the unit, press and hold the button for two seconds or keep pressing the button until all the speed and temperature indicators are OFF.

ONE TOUCH THERMOSTAT INSTRUCTIONS

To take advantage of the One Touch Thermostat, continue to press the button until the desired temperature is reached. When the ambient temperature drops below the set temperature, the fan will stop. When the outside temperature rises above the set point, the fan will turn on automatically.

CLEANING/MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these instructions to correctly and safely care for your Holmes window fan. Please remember:

1. Always unplug the fan before cleaning or disassembling.
2. Do not allow water to drip on or into the fan motor housing.
3. Do not use any of the following as a cleaner: gasoline, thinner, benzine.

Fan Blade and Front Grill Cleaning:

1. Using a Philips head screwdriver, remove the screws that hold the front and rear grills together.
2. Clean the blades and grills with a soft cloth moistened with a mild soap solution.
3. Securely fasten the front and rear grills back together.

FAN STORAGE

For all window fans, and fans that come already assembled. 

• It is important to keep it in a safe, dry location.
• We recommend using the original (or appropriately sized) box.
• Please remember to protect the fan from dust or moisture.

SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS

1. Do NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this unit. Doing so will void the warranty.
2. If you have any questions regarding this unit’s operation or believe any repair is necessary, please call our 1-800 number to speak with a Consumer Service Representative.
3. If you need to exchange the unit, please return it in its original carton, with a sales receipt, to the store where you purchased it. If you are returning the unit more than 30 days after the date of purchase, please see the enclosed warranty.

SAVE THIS WARRANTY INFORMATION

1. The quality controls used in the manufacture of this Holmes product are to ensure your satisfaction.
2. This Warranty applies only to the original purchaser of this product.
   This Warranty applies ONLY to repair or replacement of any supplied or manufactured parts of this product that, upon inspection by Holmes authorized personnel, prove to have failed in normal use due to defects in material or workmanship. Holmes will determine whether to repair or replace the unit.
   This Warranty does not apply to installation expenses.
3. Operating this unit under conditions other than those recommended or at voltages other than the voltage indicated on the unit, or attempting to service or modify the unit, will render this WARRANTY VOID.
4. Unless otherwise prescribed by law, Holmes shall not be liable for any personal injury, property, or any incidental or consequential damages of any kind (including water damage) resulting from malfunctions, defects, misuse, improper installation,n or alteration of this product.

All parts of this Holmes product are guaranteed for a period of 3 years as follows:

1. Within the first 30 days from the date of purchase, the store from which you purchased your Holmes product should replace this product if it is defective in material or workmanship (provided the store has an in-stock replacement).
2. Within the first 3 years from the date of purchase, subject to the conditions in paragraph H, Holmes will repair or replace the product if it is defective in material or workmanship, providing it is returned to Holmes, freight prepaid, with PROOF OF PURCHASE date, together with $7.50 for handling and return packing/shipping charges.

IMPORTANT Return INSTRUCTIONS 
Your warranty depends on your following these instructions if you are returning the unit more than 30 days after the' date of purchase:

1. Carefully pack the item in its original carton or other suitable box to avoid damage during shipping.
   Before packing your unit for return, be sure to enclose
   1. your name, full address with zip code, and telephone number,
   2. a dated sales receipt or PROOF OF PURCHASE $ your 7.50 check for return packaging, and
   3. The model number of the unit and the problem you are having. (Enclose in an envelope and tape directly to the unit before the box is sealed.)
2.  Holmes recommends that you ensure the package (as damage in shipment is not covered by your warranty)
3. All shipping charges must be prepaid by you (as noted in paragraph F).
4. Mark the outside of your package.
