GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance must be grounded. The oven is equipped with a cord that has a grounding wire with a grounding plug. It must be plugged into a properly installed and grounded wall receptacle. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape path for the electric current. It is recommended that a separate circuit, serving only the oven, be provided. Using a high voltage is dangerous and may result in a fire or other accidents, causing damage to the oven.

Warning: Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock.

Note

  1. If you have any questions about the grounding or electrical instructions, consult a qualified electrician or service technician.
  2. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer can accept any liability for damage to the oven or personal injury resulting from failure to follow the electrical connection procedures.

The wires in this main cable are color-coded as follows:

Operation of the microwave oven may cause interference with your radio, TV, or similar equipment. If interference occurs, it can be reduced or eliminated by following these steps:

  1. Clean the door and sealing surface of the oven.
  2. Reorient the receiving antenna of the radio or television.
  3. Relocate the microwave oven with respect to the receiver.
  4. Move the microwave oven away from the receiver.
  5. Plug the microwave oven into a different outlet so that the microwave oven and the receiver are on different branch circuits.

Before You Call for Service

If the oven fails to operate, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that the oven is plugged in securely. If it is not, remove the plug from the outlet, wait 10 seconds, and plug it in again securely.
  2. Check for a blown circuit fuse or a tripped main circuit breaker. If these are functioning properly, test the outlet with another appliance.
  3. Ensure that the control panel is programmed correctly and that the timer is set.
  4. Ensure that the door is securely closed, engaging the door safety lock system. Otherwise, microwave energy will not flow into the oven.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, contact a qualified technician. Do not attempt to adjust or repair the oven yourself.

MICROWAVE COOKING PRINCIPLES

  1. Arrange food carefully. Place thickest areas towards outside of dish.
  2. Watch cooking time. Cook for the shortest amount of time indicated and add more as needed. Food severely overcooked can smoke or ignite.
  3. Cover foods while cooking. Covers prevent spattering and help foods to cook evenly.
  4. Turn foods over once during microwaving to speed cooking of such foods as chicken and hamburgers. Large items like roasts must be turned over at least once.
  5. Rearrange foods such as meatballs halfway through cooking both from top to bottom and from the center of the dish to the outside.

MICROWAVE COOKING TECHNIQUES

Microwave Cooking Tips

  • Stirring:
Stir foods such as casseroles and vegetables while cooking to distribute heat evenly.
  • Arrangement:
Arrange unevenly shaped foods, such as chicken pieces or chops, with the thicker, meatier parts toward the outside of the turntable where they receive more microwave energy.
  • Shielding:
Shield food with narrow strips of aluminum foil to prevent overcooking (e.g., poultry wing tips, the ends of poultry legs, and corners of square baking dishes). Use only small amounts of aluminum foil. Larger amounts can damage your oven.
  • Turning:
Turn foods over midway through cooking to expose all parts to microwave energy. This is especially important for large items such as roasts.
  • Standing:
Foods cooked in the microwave build up internal heat and continue to cook for a few minutes after the oven stops. Let foods stand to complete cooking, especially foods such as roasts and whole vegetables. Roasts need this time to finish cooking in the center without overcooking the outer areas.
  • Liquids:
All liquids, such as soup or hot chocolate, should be shaken or stirred when cooking is complete. Let liquids stand for a moment before serving.
  • Food Doneness Signs Include:
    • Food steams throughout, not just at the edge.
    • Center bottom of the dish is very hot to the touch.
    • Poultry thigh joints move easily.
    • Meat and poultry show no pinkness.
    • Fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Defrosting Tips

Defrosting in a microwave is fast and hygienic, preventing the growth of bacteria while retaining the natural texture and flavor of the food. It offers quick and complete defrosting.

  • Foods must be weighed correctly.
  • Remove food to be defrosted from the packaging material.
  • Allow the food to stand for a few minutes to thaw completely.
  • Space the food to be thawed in a circular pattern.
  • Place larger or thicker pieces on the outer edge of the dish.
  • When defrosting, stir or turn the food halfway for even defrosting.
  • Separate the pieces as they thaw.
  • Remove small pieces that have thawed to prevent them from cooking.

Grilling Tips

  • Marinate foods only in the refrigerator. Reserve a portion of the marinade, before raw meat is placed in it, for later use in basting or as a dip for cooked food.
  • To avoid flare-ups and charred food, remove visible fat from meat.
  • Do not partially cook, unless the food will go immediately onto the grill.
  • If cooking ahead, cook completely, then cool down quickly for reheating later.
  • Serve food from the grill on a clean platter, not one that has raw, possibly contaminated juices on it.

Convection Tips

  • Always preheat the oven before putting food in (unless your recipe directs otherwise).
  • As with any recipe, check the food about 5-10 minutes before the expected finish time due to variables such as:
    • The temperature of the food when first placed in the oven.
    • The quantity of food in the oven.
    • Your preferred level of "doneness."
  • The more food in the oven at one time, the longer the cooking time.

UTENSILS GUIDE

  1. The ideal material for a microwave utensil is transparent to microwaves, allowing energy to pass through the container and heat the food.
  2. Microwaves cannot penetrate metal, so metal utensils or dishes with metallic trim should not be used in microwave cooking, as they may contain small metal fragments which could cause sparks or fires.
  3. Do not use recycled paper products when microwave cooking, as they may contain impurities that could ignite and cause fires.
  4. Round or oval dishes are recommended over square or oblong ones, as food in the corners tends to overcook.
  5. Narrow strips of aluminum foil may be used to prevent overcooking of exposed areas. However, be careful not to use too much foil, and always keep a distance of at least 1 inch (2.54 cm) between the foil and the oven cavity.
