USING YOUR DEVICE

BEFORE YOUR FIRST TREATMENT

Remove all jewellery before use.
You must decide which energy level is right for your skin and the area you want to treat. The device has 5 levels of energy from 1 (the lowest) to 5 (the highest). For example, you might treat one area at energy level 1, and another at level 4. For information on energy levels, refer to section ENERGY LEVELS. To choose the right energy level, test each treatment area separately (refer to the skin colour chart at the front of this manual).

  1. Press the control button to turn on the device. The level 1 energy level indicator light will come on.
  2. Place the treatment window on your skin to deliver one pulse. If you do not experience abnormal discomfort, press the control button again. This will increase the energy level.
Deliver one pulse on a different spot at energy level 2.
  3. Continue testing at increased energy levels. If you do not experience any adverse effects within one hour, you can start the full treatment at that energy level.

Use a lower energy level if you experience any discomfort.

Repeat this test for each part of the body you wish to treat.

YOU ARE NOW READY TO USE YOUR DEVICE

  1. Before treating an area, the skin should be shaved, clean, dry, and free of any powders, antiperspirants, or deodorants. Do not wax, pluck, or tweeze the hair out.
  2. Press the control button. The device will turn on, the level 1 energy indicator light will be on, and a fan sound will start.
  3. Approximately 1 second after pressing the control button, the ready light will turn on.
  4. The device is then ready to use at the lowest energy level.
  5. Set the energy level by pressing the control button repeatedly to increase the energy level until you have the level you want. The energy level indicator lights indicate the chosen setting (refer to section ENERGY LEVELS).
  6. Decide if you wish to treat the area by Gliding or Pulsing (refer to section PULSING AND GLIDING).
  7. Apply the treatment window to the skin. Make sure that the skin is spread evenly and smoothly. When the treatment window is in full contact with the skin, the ready light will start blinking slowly.
  8. The device will first determine the colour of your skin automatically, and it will flash a pulse of light onto your skin. You will feel a mild sensation of warmth and tingling, and you may hear a popping sound.
  • If you are pulsing, remove the device from your skin. The device will immediately recharge for the next pulse. After a few seconds (depending on the energy level), the ready light will turn on again, and start blinking slowly when pressed against the skin.
  • If you are pulsing, repeat the process. If you are gliding, simply continue. Continue to pulse or glide until you have treated the area fully.
  • Stop use immediately, if your skin blisters or burns.

AFTER TREATMENT

  1. When you have finished your treatment session:
  2. Turn the device off by giving the control button an extended press. Remember the last energy level setting you used, because it will not be restored when you turn the device on again.
  3. Remove the adapter from the electrical outlet.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

It is important to clean your device after each treatment.

  1. Unplug the device.
  2. To clean the device, including the treatment window, wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Never use acetone or other abrasive fluids, because they will damage your device.
  3. After cleaning, we recommend you store the device in its original box.

Never immerse your device or any of its parts in water.

How do I set up the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 for the first use?

To set up the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500, first plug the adapter into the device and a power outlet. Press the control button to turn it on; the device will start at energy level 1. Use the control button to cycle through levels 1 to 5 to select the most comfortable setting. Ensure your skin is clean, shaved, and dry before treatment. The device's integrated skin tone tester will confirm suitability before use. Familiarize yourself with the device’s parts for safe and effective operation.

What should I do if the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 is not emitting flashes or working properly?

If the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 is not flashing, ensure the treatment window is in full contact with your skin, as the device only activates when sensors detect proper skin contact. Check that your skin tone is compatible; the built-in sensor prevents flashing on unsuitable tones. Also, confirm the device is powered correctly and the energy level is set. If problems persist, try resetting the device or consult the troubleshooting section of the manual for further guidance.

How does the integrated skin tone tester in the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 enhance treatment safety?

The remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 includes an integrated skin tone tester that continuously reads your skin tone during use. This safety feature ensures the device only delivers light pulses when the treatment window is flush against suitable skin tones, preventing flashes on skin types that could cause adverse reactions. It helps personalize treatment by automatically adjusting to the optimum power level for your skin, maximizing safety and effectiveness.

Can I use the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 on all skin and hair types?

The remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 is most effective on light to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin types 1-5) with dark hair, as dark hair contains more melanin to absorb light pulses. It is not suitable for very dark skin tones or very light hair colors like white, gray, or red. Using the device outside the recommended skin and hair types can reduce effectiveness and increase the risk of skin irritation.

What are the advantages of the triggerless pulse feature on the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500?

The triggerless pulse feature on the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 allows continuous flashing without needing to press a button for each pulse. This speeds up treatment and makes it easier to cover larger areas efficiently. It ensures consistent energy delivery, improves user convenience, and reduces treatment time compared to traditional IPL devices that require manual button pressing for each flash.

How can I optimize the performance of my remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 for permanent hair reduction?

To optimize performance, shave the treatment area before use and ensure the skin is clean and dry. Use the highest energy level that remains comfortable to maximize effectiveness. Treat the area in a systematic grid-like pattern to cover evenly. Follow the recommended treatment schedule: typically every two weeks for three sessions, then maintenance as needed. Avoid tanning or sun exposure before and after treatment for best results.

What maintenance steps are recommended to keep the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 in good condition?

Maintain your remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 by cleaning the treatment window with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove residue. Avoid using water or abrasive cleaners. Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Regularly check the power adapter and cables for damage. The device has a long-life lamp with up to 350,000 flashes, so no cartridge replacement is needed, but follow safety guidelines to prolong its lifespan.

Why is the remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 not suitable for use on moles, tattoos, or broken skin?

The remington Compact Control HPL IPL3500 should not be used on moles, tattoos, or broken skin because the intense light pulses can cause skin damage or irritation in these areas. Tattoos and moles absorb light differently, increasing the risk of burns or discoloration. Broken or irritated skin is more sensitive and can be worsened by the treatment. Always avoid treating these areas for safety and optimal results.
