Description
The Rossmax Digital Medical Thermometer TG380 is built with durability and ease of use in mind. Its compact size and lightweight design make it easy to carry around, while its large LCD display ensures clear visibility of temperature readings. The device comes with a set of disposable probe covers, which enhance hygiene and reduce the risk of cross-infection.
The thermometer also includes a mute function, allowing for silent operation when needed, and an auto-shutoff feature to conserve battery life. These features combine to make the Rossmax TG380 an indispensable tool for healthcare professionals and home users alike.
How to Use
- Push the On/Off button by the display window. The display will read for 2 seconds, and a beep sound will be heard.
- Release the On/Off button, and the last measured temperature will be shown for about 2 seconds. Then, the self-test temperature of 37.0°C (98.6°F) will display, followed by "Lo°C" (or "Lo°F").
- Wipe or dip the probe with alcohol for disinfection. Position the probe in the oral, rectal, or axillary site.
- Once the degree sign °C (°F) on the display has stopped flashing (usually within 10 to 40 seconds), a beep signal will sound approximately 10 times. The measured temperature will then be shown on the LCD window. The temperature reading will not change after the unit is removed from the testing position.
- If the temperature is less than 37.8°C (100.0°F), the buzzer will sound:
"Bi---Bi---Bi---Bi---" - If the temperature is greater than or equal to 37.8°C (100.0°F), the buzzer will sound a higher frequency:
"Bi-Bi-Bi----Bi-Bi-Bi--" (approximately 10 times).
- If the temperature is less than 37.8°C (100.0°F), the buzzer will sound:
- The unit will automatically turn off in 10 minutes for energy-saving purposes. However, to prolong battery life, it is recommended to press the On/Off button to turn off the unit once the measurement is done.
- Dispose of any used batteries and the thermometer according to local regulations.
Note: After step 2, if the room temperature is greater than 32.0°C (89.6°F), the room temperature will be displayed.
Note: Using the probe cover may result in a 0.1°C (0.2°F) difference from the actual temperature.
Note: Clean the probe before and after using the thermometer to ensure accurate readings and to avoid cross-contamination.
Oral Use
- Place the probe well under the patient’s tongue.
- Ensure the patient keeps their mouth closed for about 20 seconds.
- Do not drink hot or cold fluids, exercise, smoke, or engage in other activities prior to the reading. These activities may raise or lower temperature readings compared to the patient’s normal, average temperature.
Axillary Use
Tightly place the probe in the patient’s armpit for about 30 seconds.
- Please ensure close contact between the probe and the armpit, especially for babies or children.
Rectal Use
Always use a probe cover when taking rectal measurements.
- Commonly used for young children when it is difficult to take an oral or axillary temperature.
- Lubricate with a water-soluble gel. Do not use petroleum jelly.
- Gently insert the probe tip no more than 1.5-2 cm into the rectum for about 10 seconds. Do not force the tip into the rectum if resistance is encountered.
- Disinfect the thermometer after use. Refer to the “Cleaning and Disinfection” section.
°C / °F Switchable
Temperature readings are available in either the Fahrenheit or Celsius scale (°C / °F; located to the right of the LCD). With the unit off, press and hold the On/Off button for approximately 4 seconds to change the current setting.
Battery Replacement
- When the battery icon appears on the upper right corner of the LCD, the battery is exhausted and needs replacement.
- Pull the battery cover off in the direction shown.
- Pull out the battery with a sharp object such as a pen. Keep exhausted batteries out of reach of children.
- Place a new 1.5V D.C. button-size battery (type SR41 or LR41 or equivalent) in the chamber with the positive side facing up and the negative side facing down.
- Install the battery cover back.
Display on the LCD
- M: Last measured temperature.
- Battery Icon: When the battery icon appears on the upper right corner of the LCD, the battery is exhausted and needs replacement.
Setup Guide
Setting up and operating the Rossmax Digital Medical Thermometer TG380 is straightforward:
- Insert the batteries into the battery compartment according to the polarity markings.
- Attach a disposable probe cover to the thermistor tip if using orally or rectally.
- Select your preferred measurement mode using the mode button.
- Place the thermistor tip under your tongue (orally), in the rectum (rectally), or in your armpit (underarm) and hold until you hear a beep indicating that measurement is complete.
- Read your temperature on the LCD display.
Cleaning and Disinfection
- Clean the unit by wiping it with a dry cloth and sterilize the probe with ethyl alcohol.
- Do not let the unit come into contact with any chemical thinner.

At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies. These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.
- Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular/cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the location in which the TG250/TG380 is used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the TG250/TG380 should be observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as re-orienting or relocating the TG250/TG380.
- Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be les than 3 V/m.
