Description

The Secura Cool Touch Electric Kettle 1701DA is made of high-quality stainless steel, making it durable and long-lasting. The cool-touch exterior ensures that the kettle is safe to handle, even when the water inside is boiling. The kettle has a large 1.8-liter capacity, making it ideal for making tea, coffee, or hot chocolate for the whole family. The LED power indicator light lets you know when the kettle is on, while the water level window allows you to easily see how much water is inside. The concealed heating element prevents mineral buildup, ensuring that your kettle stays clean and efficient over time.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Carefully remove your product and all documentation from the box. Storing your product in its original box helps to protect it while not in use.
  • Always use and store on a flat, level, stable surface, away from any ledge and out of direct sunlight.
  • The power cord is stored on the underside of the base. For safety reasons, only unwind enough of the power cord to reach the outlet and keep the power cord stored underneath when not in use.
  • Position the base so no one can become entangled in or trip over the power cord.
  • Remove the kettle from the base before filling or pouring.
  • Use purified or deionized water, when possible, to minimize mineral build-up in the kettle.
  • This kettle is used for boiling water. Do not fill with anything other than drinking water in normal use, except for descaling process.
  • Do not brew tea or other beverages in the kettle as that can change the boiling characteristics and may cause overflowing.
  • If water drips onto the base, wipe dry before placing the kettle on the base.
  • Never touch the interior of the kettle or lid during or immediately following use. The exterior body and the handle will remain cool, however touching the stainless steel interior can result in burns or scalding.
  • Do not attempt to use the kettle without the lid locked securely in the closed position.
  • Do not press the LID RELEASE button while operating.
  • The kettle turns off automatically when removed from the base.
  • Be careful of steam coming from the spout, especially while pouring or if adding water immediately after boiling.
  • Allow kettle to cool completely before opening lid to avoid hot condensation.
  • Pour slowly and do not over-tilt to avoid the risk of splashing.
  • The Boil Dry Protection Sensor turns the kettle off automatically when it detects that the kettle is empty. If the Boil Dry Protection feature is activated, please allow the kettle to cool down at least 15 minutes before refilling.

KETTLE PREPARATION

Preparing your kettle for first time use:

  1. Remove the kettle from the base.
  2. Press the LID RELEASE and fill the kettle with cold water until it reaches the interior MAX line.
  3. Close the lid, place the kettle onto the base, and plug the power cord into an outlet.
  4. Press the ON/OFF switch into the ON position. The switch will illuminate and remain on until the water comes to a boil (212°F). Once the water boils, the kettle shuts off automatically in approximately 20 seconds, the indicator light turns off, and the ON/OFF switch returns to the OFF position.
  5. Carefully remove the kettle from the base and discard the water. Allow kettle to cool completely before opening lid to avoid hot condensation.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 again to remove any production residue from the interior of the kettle.
  7. Unplug the power cord and allow the kettle to cool completely.

NOTE: Do not consume the water used during the preparation process. It should be discarded immediately. While not harmful, this is the initial cleaning process and the water may taste unpleasant.

USING YOUR KETTLE

  1. Remove the kettle from the base.
  2. Press the LID RELEASE and fill the kettle with cold water until it reaches the correct amount between 0.5-liters (2 cups) minimum and 1.7-liters (7 cups) maximum.
  5. Carefully remove the kettle from the base and pour water as needed. Allow kettle to cool completely before opening lid to avoid hot condensation.
  6. Return the kettle to the base.
  7. To reheat the water, refill if required and repeat steps 3 – 6.
  8. Unplug the power cord when done and allow the kettle to cool completely.

BOIL DRY PROTECTION FEATURE

If the kettle is empty or contains less than 0.5-liters (2 cups) of water, the BOIL DRY PROTECTION SENSOR will activate, and the kettle will shut off automatically. This protects the kettle from damage due to overheating. If this happens, please do the following:

  1. Lift the ON/OFF switch into the OFF position, if needed.
  2. Unplug the base.
  3. Wait at least 10 minutes for the temperature sensor to reset before attempting to use the kettle.

WARNING! The sensor reset process is designed to protect the heating element and extend the life of your kettle. Do not attempt to cool the kettle faster by filling with cold water or by any other method. Doing so will reduce the lifespan of the kettle’s heating plate.

IMPORTANT! You may see some discoloration on the bottom of the stainless steel kettle interior over time. This is harmless and expected due to the bonding of the heating element to the kettle floor. Clean the stainless steel kettle interior using Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser and Polish.

Setup Guide

To set up the Secura Cool Touch Electric Kettle 1701DA, follow these simple steps:

  1. Remove the kettle from its packaging and wash it thoroughly with soap and water.
  2. Fill the kettle with water, making sure not to exceed the maximum fill line.
  3. Plug in the kettle and press the power button to turn it on.
  4. Wait for the water to boil. The kettle will automatically turn off when the water has reached boiling point.
  5. Pour the hot water into your cup or teapot.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

NOTE: Always unplug the base from the outlet and let the kettle cool completely before cleaning.

Exterior Cleaning:

  • Use a soft damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use any abrasive cleansers or scouring pads as this will damage or scratch the surface.
  • Clean the base with a damp cloth.
  • Keep all connectors and sockets dry.

Interior Cleaning: The interior of the Secura water kettle is made of high-quality stainless steel. There is no plastic in contact with hot water, which provides you with safe daily use. To ensure that your kettle enjoys a substantially longer life and operates at maximum efficiency, we do not apply any coatings, since they can peel off or wear away. Cleaning is something that should be done regularly. We suggest that owners rely on Bar Keepers Friend Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish to keep the stainless steel interior in top condition. We also recommend the use of purified or deionized water for the least amount of mineral build-up on the interior.

  • To remove stubborn spots/marks on the interior, wipe the surface with a slightly dampened cloth and a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend or other mild, non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner (following the instructions on the container). Rinse with water and wipe dry with a clean soft cloth.
  • Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
  • Do not open, change, or service any parts yourself.

Removing Mineral Build-Up

Depending on the mineral content (also known as “hardness”) of the water you use, mineral build-up may occur on the inside of your kettle. This is normal even when using filtered water. For optimal performance, we recommend removing the mineral build-up. This can be done using the following decalcifying process:

  1. Add 3.5 cups plain water to the kettle.
  2. Replace the lid and place the kettle on its base. Plug the power cord into an outlet and follow the kettle’s operating instructions for boiling water.
  3. Once the water boils and the kettle switches off, unplug the power cord from the outlet.
Warning: Hot condensation may accumulate in the lid. Use extreme caution when opening the lid to avoid burns and scalding.
  4. Add 3.5 cups of white vinegar to the kettle. Hot vinegar-water mixture provides better descaling results. Make sure the mixture does not exceed the MAX line. Allow the mixture to soak overnight. Warning: DO NOT plug in the kettle to heat or boil again after adding vinegar to the water, as the mixture will spill out of the kettle which could result in burns and damage.
  5. Carefully empty the kettle. Wipe the interior with a soft cloth, then rinse with water.
  6. To make the interior of the kettle vinegar-free, fill the kettle with plain water until it reaches the interior MAX line and boil the water. After the kettle switches off carefully discard the water.
  7. Once the kettle has cooled, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

  • Store the appliance in its box or in a clean, dry place.
  • Never store the appliance while it is still wet or dirty.
