Hand Therapy Kit

Occupational and physical therapists use therapy putty and other tools to help patients reduce pain and improve strength and flexibility when recovering from surgery or injury to the hands or wrists. The Special Supplies hand therapy kit includes nine therapy tools and six resistance levels of therapy putty, making it easy to build strength and stamina, no matter your strength level at the beginning of therapy. The therapy tools are made from durable, non-toxic materials and the therapy putty is made from premium, fragrance-free, non-oily silicone, so it is safe for sensitive hands and won’t leave behind residues or odors.

• The therapy kit contains small pieces that may present a choking hazard. Never allow children to place pieces in their mouth or to ingest the therapy putty.
• Never allow children to use the therapy kit unattended. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
• This product is a therapeutic tool; it is NOT a toy.
• Always inspect the therapy tools and putty before each use. Stop using and immediately replace the therapy kit with any signs of wear and tear or damage.
• Keep all tools away from flammable products, heat sources, and fire.
• To prevent germ/bacteria transfer between users, we recommend using a separate tub of therapy putty with each person or patient.

THERAPY PUTTY TIPS

• Wash and dry hands thoroughly before use to keep the putty clean and prevent cross-contamination.
• Use therapy putty on a clean table, or on other smooth surface.
• Pat a large chunk of putty over small or fine pieces of putty to gather them up.
• Keep therapy putty away from liquids.
• Keep therapy putty away from heat, dust, and dirt.
• Therapy putty does not separate, harden, or dry out when stored properly. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

GENERAL TIPS

• Follow the guidance of your doctor or therapy professional regarding number of exercise repetitions, exercise frequency, and exercise duration.
• Don’t ignore pain. If it hurts, stop and consult your doctor or therapist. Trying to do too much can cause you to re-injure the treatment area.

Using the Therapy Tools

USING THE FINGER EXERCISERS

1. Place your fingers in the five finger holes.
   1. Your thumb goes into the largest hole in the center.

2. Perform finger extensions, as shown in exercise R in the Hand Therapy Exercise Guide.

   

USING THE ROUND HAND-GRIPS

• Insert your finger tips into the center of a round hand-grip to practice finger extensions, as shown in exercise A.
• Squeeze a round hand-grip to work on grip strength, as shown in exercises B and C.

USING THE OVAL HAND-GRIPS

• Squeeze an oval hand-grip in the palm of your hand to work on finger and grip strength.
• Many of the exercises featuring the other tools or therapy putty can be replicated using the oval hand-grips, including exercises B, C, and G–K.

Resistance Level Options

The therapy tools and therapy putty have multiple resistance  levels, allowing you to choose the difficulty level that works best for you. Multiple levels allow you to gradually increase strength and stamina over time.

Setup Guide

To set up and use the Special Supplies Hand Therapy Kit - Putty, follow these steps:

1. Select the appropriate resistance level based on your current therapy needs.
2. Warm up your hands with light stretching before starting exercises.
3. Follow the exercises outlined in the manual, starting with simple finger stretches and progressing to more complex movements.
