Gate Assembly
WARNING: DO NOT remove cardboard cover (or plastic tie beneath it) at this time, or serious injury may result.
Measure and record the width of the opening where you will use the gate.
If the opening is wider than 33 in. (83.8 cm), refer to page 2 for Proper Set-Up Configurations.
NOTE: If frame extension is not required, go to Step 3.If frame extension is required, insert small extension pins E into the upper and lower openings in the gate frame A, as shown. Push the appropriate frame extension B onto the extension pins E. Make sure the plastic caps on the gate frame A and the gate extension B touch each other. The plastic caps MUST touch each other to securely install the frame extension.
NOTE: Frame extension can be installed on either side of gate.Push four adjustment bumpers D into the corners of the gate frame A or the frame extension B.
NOTE: Make sure the adjustment bumpers are pushed all the way in.WARNING: Distance between gate frame and door frame should be equal on both sides, and NEVER exceed 2.75 in. (6.9 cm). If 2.75 in. (6.9 cm) is exceeded, move to the next configuration on page 2.
Gate Installation
Position gate A on floor in center of opening, making sure that it is straight up and down (90º to the floor).
NOTE: Adjustment bumpers may mark some mounting surfaces.
NOTE: If not installing gate at top of stairs, go to step 8.WARNING:Mounting caps MUST be installed to use gate at top of stairs.
NOTE: If not installing gate at top of stairs, go to step 8.- Peel backing off one side of adhesive pad G. Adhere pad to outside of mounting cap F, as shown.

Slide adjustment bumper D out of gate frame toward door frame, until mounting cap sticks to door frame. Repeat this for other three mounting caps. - Once all four mounting caps are in place remove gate from opening in order to secure mounting caps to door frame with supplied screws I. Tighten all four screws securely with handheld Phillips screwdriver, but do not overtighten.
NOTE: If mounting to drywall, mark center of mounting caps. Pull mounting caps off wall. Drill holes and insert wall anchors H. Secure mounting caps with screws. Tighten all four screws securely with handheld Phillips screwdriver, but do not overtighten. Position gate A on floor in line with mounting caps.
- Turn both upper adjustment bumpers D and both lower adjustment bumpers D, as shown, until all four contact the door frame or mounting caps.
Check that the gate is still straight up and down then turn each bumper two more full rotations or until tight. Test to make sure the gate frame assembly is secure by firmly shaking it. If it moves, it needs to be re-installed. Repeat steps 8 – 9.
WARNING: BEFORE removing the CARDBOARD COVER and cutting the PLASTIC TIE, ENSURE the gate is securely in place or serious injury may result.
With your gate securely in place, remove the cardboard cover, then cut and discard the plastic tie.
- Adjust both upper bumpers D until the gap between the handle J and latch K is 1/8 in. (3.2 mm).
Inspect the gate. Make sure it swings freely and latches securely.
When using at the top or bottom of stairs, pivot the swing stop L down to the locked position on the opposite side of the gate from the stairs. This will prevent opening the gate into the stairway. In all other locations, pivot the swing stop down to the locked position on the side of the gate that the child occupies.
