Setup Guide

To empty the container, simply open the shavings container and discard the shavings. Handle Removal

During the life of this sharpener it may be necessary to remove the handle from the BLADE ASSEMBLY for cleaning, blade replacement or general maintenance.
WARNING: DO NOT HOLD BLADE ASSEMBLY IN YOUR HAND. THE BLADE IS SHARP AND WILL CAUSE INJURY. THIS PROCEDURE MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY AN ADULT.
Follow the procedure below for safe removal and reattachment of handle.

1. Remove the BLADE ASSEMBLY for the sharpener body by turning the LOCKING RING 90 degrees anti-clockwise.
2. Firmly secure the BLADE and SHARPENING CHAMBER in a clamp/vice without damaging the blade to prevent mechanism from rotating. DO NOT HOLD THE BLADE IN YOUR HAND.
3. Firmly turn the handle anti-clockwise until the handle separates from the shaft on the BLADE ASSEMBLY.
4. To reattach the handle, whilst the BLADE and SHARPENING CHAMBER are clamped locate the handle back onto the shaft ensuring the hole in the HANDLE and the slot in the shaft are lined up.
5. Turn the handle clockwise firmly until it stops.
6. Remove BLADE ASSEMBLY from clamp/vice and reinsert it into the sharpener body.
7. Turn LOCKING RING 90 degrees clockwise to secure.

NOTE: During the transportation of this sharpener or if the handle is turned anti-clockwise the handle may come away from the shaft. If this does happen simply insert a pencil into the sharpener, locate the handle onto the shaft ensuring the hole in  the HANDLE and the slot in the shaft are lined up. Turn the handle clockwise to sharpen the pencil. This procedure will secure the handle onto the shaft.

Pencil Sharpening Instructions

1. Select pencil point sharpness by moving selector lever to desired angle.

   

2. Squeeze top two levers together to open internal “jaws”.

3. Whilst squeezing the levers together pull the CARRIAGE containing the levers forward THEN insert your pencil as far as it will go.

   

4. Release the leavers (the jaws should grab the pencil and the CARRIAGE will remain extended). NOW rotate handle to sharpen pencil.
5. Whilst you turn the handle the CARRIAGE will draw the pencil into the sharpener allowing it to be sharpened.
6. Once the pencil is sharp the handle will continue to rotate but the pencil will stop being sharpened.
7. Squeeze the top levers together to open the jaws then remove your sharpened pencil.

NOTE: If the handle just rotates without sharpening the pencil, you may find the SHARPENING CHAMBER is blocked with a broken piece of lead. This must be removed in order for the sharpener to work correctly.
TO CLEAR BROKEN LEAD

1. Twist LOCKING RING and Remove BLADE ASSEMBLY.
2. Find blockage then remove with a piece of wire, (bent paper clip).
3. Carefully replace BLADE ASSEMBLY, twist LOCKING RING to lock into place.

WARNING: NEVER USE THIS SHARPENER TO SHARPEN WAX CRAYONS OR PASTEL PENCILS THE WRITING MEDIUM IS TOO SOFT. IT WILL BREAK AND BLOCK THE SHARPENING CHAMBER
