Description

With a range of up to 100 feet (30 meters) in line of sight, the StarTech Wireless Infrared IR Remote Extender IREXT2 is a stylish and small device that comes with an IR emitter and receiver that you can place close to the devices you wish to control. This extender works with most devices and supports both standard and repetitive IR signals.

Installation

1. Connect one of the provided AC power adapters to an available power outlet, then to the DC jack on the back of the IREXT2 receiver unit.

2. Situate the unit labeled “Receiver” near the device you wish to control remotely (Television, Home Theater Receiver, etc.). If you are not using the probes outlined in the following step, position the IR receiver unit to face the IR sensor receiving window of the device you are controlling. Note the distances outlined in the diagram for best performance.

3. If using the included probe(s), situate the IR Extender Probe near the IR sensor receiving window of the device you wish to control. The probe should be within 0.5m and at angles +/- 15°.

4. Insert the metal connector provided by the probe into the IR Extender port located on the back of the Receiver unit. 
5. Extend the antenna on the receiver unit and position it vertically. 

6. Situate the unit labeled “Transmitter” near the location from which you wish to initiate control, ensuring that an available power outlet is easily accessible. 

   

7. Connect the remaining AC power adapter to an available power outlet, then to the DC jack on the back of the IREXT2 transmitter unit. 
8. Extend the antenna on the transmitter unit and position it vertically. 10. The Infrared Extender is now ready for use.

Setup Guide

The StarTech Wireless Infrared IR Remote Extender IREXT2 may be used, assembled, and configured by following these steps:

• A 3.5mm jack on the object you wish to control should be used to connect the IR receiver to it.
• Put the infrared receiver where you can use it to control your remote control.
• Using the provided RCA connection, attach the IR emitter to the IR receiver.
• Place the infrared emitter close to the objects you want to control.
• Make that the IR emitter, IR receiver, and remote control are all in line of sight of each other.

Troubleshooting

Some common problems and solutions include:

• Issue: Devices not responding to the remote control.
• Solution: Check the line-of-sight connection between the remote, IR receiver, and IR emitter. Ensure the devices are within the 100 feet (30 meters) range.
