Positioning the revolving handle
The iron has a revolving handle. You may iron with the handle forward (Fig. 3) or backward (Fig. 5). To turn the handle, rotate it 180° counter-clockwise (Fig. 4).

• Warning
  Risk of scalding. Do not touch the hot soleplate of the iron when you rotate the handle.

Refilling the reservoir

• Make sure the iron is unplugged from the supply mains before fi lling the tank with water.
• Remove the rubber cap (A). Rotate the handle backward as explained in the previous paragraph. Fill the tank with cool tap water (Fig. 6). Put the cap back on. Rotate the handle forward. Put the iron in a vertical position and check the water level (Fig. 7).
• NEVER fill the tank beyond the MAX level.
• If it proves necessary to add water while ironing, always turn off the iron and unplug the power cord before fi lling the tank with water.
• Empty the tank after use, when the iron has returned to room temperature.

Connection to the electric network

• The iron can be used with 220V or 110V electricity networks. The appliance is equipped with a power voltage switch (I) found underneath the iron (Fig. 2). Position the switch to the left or right depending on whether the electricity network voltage is 220V or 110V.
• Before putting the appliance into operation, make sure that the electric network volt-age value corresponds to the one shown on the operating data plate.
• The Travel Chic iron is a class 1 appliance and must be used only by plugging it into a socket-outlet with earthing. If a travel adaptor is used for the plug, it must be able to provide earthing connection. For this reason it will be necessary to use a tri-polar plug.

Switching on the appliance

• Always make sure that the power supply voltage commutator (I) is set on the same voltage value as that of the local electric network (Fig. 2).
• Connect the iron plug adaptors, if any, and plug it in.
• Adjust the thermostat (D) to the desired temperature. • Divide the articles to be ironed according to the types of material: wool with wool, cotton with cotton, etc
• Because the iron heats up much more quickly than it cools down, it is advisable to start with those fabrics which require lower temperatures and move on to those which require progressively higher temperatures.
• If the material is made up of more than one type of fi bre, always set the temperature to the fi bre which requires less heat. For example, if the material is made up of 70% synthetics and 30% cotton, set the temperature control to position (•) (see table) without steam, that is, the temperature for synthetic fabrics.

• If you do not know the composition of the article to be ironed, choose a part of the article which will not be seen. Do a test ironing on this part to establish the appropriate temperature (always start with a relatively low temperature and work up until the ideal temperature is reached). Pure (100%) wool articles can be ironed with the iron set to one of the steam positions. To avoid pure wool, silk and synthetic materials becoming shiny, it makes good sense to iron them on the reverse side. For other materials, especially velvet, which can become shiny very easily, cover them with a cloth and iron in one direction only, using light pressure. The iron must be kept constantly moving over the fabric.

  

DRY IRONING

• Connect the plug into the socket.
• Set the thermostat (D) according to the type of fabric to be ironed. Wait a few minutes for the soleplate to reach the set temperature.

VERTICAL IRONING

AFTER IRONING

• Put the thermostat (D) on “min”.
• Unplug it from the electric outlet. Put the iron in a vertical position and let it cool down (Fig. 9). Bring the iron over a basin. Open the tank cap. Turn the iron upside-down and completely empty the water tank.
