Content
Overview
The HEA1 927 Fan Heater is a portable electric fan heater designed for supplementary, temporary, or occasional heating in well-insulated indoor spaces. Detailed Description
The HEA1 927 Fan Heater draws room air through the air intake, passes it across an internal heating element when a heat setting is selected, and releases warmed air through the air outlet. In fan-only mode, the heating element remains off and the fan produces an airflow for ventilation.
- Air outlet: Releases heated or circulating air from the front of the unit.
- On/Off/Fan/Heat switch: Selects the off position, fan-only operation, low heat, or high heat.
- Indicator: Shows the heating control cycling as the thermostat maintains the selected room temperature.
- Thermostat: Adjusts the target room temperature. Turning it clockwise increases the setting, while turning it anticlockwise reduces it.
- Air intake: Allows room air to enter the heater and must remain unobstructed.
- Horizontal mounting position: An inset position identified on the appliance; operation must still comply with the requirement to use the heater upright.
Safety
- Read and retain the instructions before operating the heater.
- Never cover the appliance. Covering the heater can cause overheating and create a fire hazard.
- Keep curtains, textiles, furniture, and other flammable materials at least 1 metre from the air outlet.
- Do not place the heater directly below an electrical socket.
- Plug the heater directly into a suitable mains socket. Do not use an extension cable.
- Confirm that the supply voltage matches the rating on the appliance data plate.
- Operate the heater indoors only, away from baths, showers, swimming pools, water, and damp locations.
- Keep the heater on a solid, level, non-flammable surface such as stone, slate, ceramic, or concrete.
- Do not place the heater on carpet, rugs, hearth rugs, or other soft floor coverings.
- Keep the air intake and outlet clear. Do not push objects into any opening.
- Keep the appliance away from paper, wood, petrol, solvents, spray containers, flammable gases, and combustible dust.
- Do not use the heater in garages, stables, wooden sheds, or other areas with an elevated fire risk.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is operating or connected to the mains.
- Children under 3 years must be kept away unless continuously supervised.
- Children from 3 to under 8 years may operate only the on/off control when the heater is correctly positioned and they are supervised or instructed. They must not plug in, adjust, clean, or maintain the appliance.
- Children aged 8 years and above, and people with reduced physical, sensory, or mental abilities, may use the heater only with suitable supervision or safety instruction.
- Some surfaces become very hot and may cause burns. Take particular care around children and vulnerable people.
- Do not immerse the heater, plug, or power cord in water or another liquid.
- Do not use the appliance if the plug, cord, or casing is damaged, or if the heater has malfunctioned, been dropped, or suffered impact.
- Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces and sharp edges. Do not run it under carpets or rugs.
- Do not use attachments or accessories other than those supplied or specifically recommended.
- Disconnect the heater after use, before cleaning, and before any repair work. Pull the plug rather than the cord.
- Allow the heater to cool completely before moving or storing it.
- Electrical repairs must be completed by qualified personnel. A damaged supply cord must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised service agent.
A slight smell and a small amount of smoke may occur during the first few minutes of initial operation. This can result from the protective coating on the heating elements and should quickly disappear. Stop using the heater if the smell or smoke continues or becomes excessive.
Setup and Operation
Initial setup
- Place the HEA1 927 Fan Heater upright on a solid, level, non-flammable surface.
- Remove objects, fabrics, and furnishings from the area around the air outlet and air intake. Maintain at least 1 metre of clearance from flammable materials at the outlet.
- Confirm that the control switch is set to the off position marked “O”.
- Insert the plug directly into a suitable mains socket after checking the voltage rating.
Low and high heat
- Turn the switch to the low heat position for approximately 1000 W of heating power.
- Turn the switch to the high heat position for the maximum heating setting of approximately 2000 W.
- Adjust the thermostat clockwise to raise the desired room temperature or anticlockwise to lower it.
- When the target temperature is reached, the heater cycles on and off to maintain it. The indicator may illuminate and go out during this process; this is normal.
- Return the switch to “O” to turn the heater off, then unplug it after use.
Setting the thermostat
- Select the required heat level and turn the thermostat fully clockwise.
- Allow the room to warm until it reaches the preferred temperature.
- Slowly turn the thermostat anticlockwise until the heater just switches off.
- Turn the thermostat slightly clockwise again. The control will then cycle the heater to help maintain the selected temperature.
- Fine-tune the setting if necessary, depending on the room and personal comfort.
Fan-only mode
Turn the control switch to the fan-only position to produce cool airflow without activating the heating element. For the fan to operate, turn the thermostat fully clockwise.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Switch off and unplug the heater before cleaning.
- Allow the appliance to cool fully.
- Wipe the exterior with a clean, damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaning products.
- Never submerge any part of the heater in water or another liquid.
- Keep the air intake clear of dust and obstructions.
- Do not wrap the mains cable around the appliance.
- Inspect the power cord periodically and stop using the heater if any damage is visible.
- Store the unit only after it has cooled completely.
Troubleshooting
The heater does not operate
- Check that the plug is fully inserted into a suitable mains socket.
- Confirm that the control switch is not in the off position.
- Check the mains supply using another appropriate appliance if safe to do so.
- Inspect the plug and power cord for damage. Do not use the heater if either is damaged.
The heater stops during operation
The appliance has a built-in safety cut-out. If it activates, switch off and unplug the heater. Check that the air intake is not blocked or covered, then leave the unit unplugged for approximately one hour to cool and reset. Reconnect it only after the obstruction has been removed and the heater is completely cool.
The fan operates but the room does not warm
- Check that the switch is set to low or high heat rather than fan-only mode.
- Increase the thermostat setting if the current target temperature has already been reached.
- Ensure that the air outlet is unobstructed.
The heater smells during first use
A light odour or small amount of smoke can occur briefly when the heating elements are used for the first time. It should fade quickly. Switch off and unplug the appliance if it persists or appears excessive.
Recycling and Disposal
Separate paper and cardboard packaging for paper recycling, and place recyclable plastics in the appropriate plastic collection service. Do not dispose of the heater with ordinary household waste. At the end of its service life, take it to an approved electrical and electronic waste recycling facility in accordance with local requirements.
