  1. Unpluthe g the power cord.
  2. Allow unit to completely cool (at least 30 minutes).

MICROFIBER PAD CARE: Machine wash warm, separately. Air or tumble dry low. No fabric softener or bleach.

MINERAL BUILD-UP
A common maintenance need for steam appliances is the removal of build-up caused by high mineral content in many municipal water supplies. This mineral build-up may limit the effectiveness and reduce the life of your product.
The best way to minimize mineral build-up is to use distilled or de-mineralized water when using your 2-In-1 Steam Mop. If you are unable to use distilled water, it is recommended that the following procedure be followed monthly to remove any
mineral build-up:

  1. Follow Steps 1-4 under the Proper Storage section above. However, do not replace the Water Tank at the end of Step 4.
  2. Fill a measuring cup (not included) with 2oz (59ml) distilled water and .5oz (04.7ml) vinegar.
  3. Slowly pour water-vinegar solution into the Water Tank,, then replacthe e the Fill Cap.
  4.  Plug in the power cord to turn the unit on.
  5. Let sthe team release from the unit for 1 minute,, then turthe n the unit off by unplugging it.
  6. Allow the unit to sit for approximately 30 minutes, then let the steam release until the Water Tank has been emptied.
  7. Once the Water Tank is drained, turn the unit off and refill the Water Tank with 8.45 ounces (250ml) of fresh distilled water. Allow the unit to produce steam until the Water Tank is empty. Repeat as necessary until the vinegar odor dissipates.
  8. Turn uthe nit off by unplugging the power cord and store it as usual.

IMPORTANT: On average, it is recommended that you follow the mineral build-up removal procedure once per month (if the unit is used once every week). More frequent use may require following the procedure more often to keep your 2-in-1 Steam Mop operating at full potential. Do not exceed 20 hours of use without cleaning out mineral build-up.

Faqs

How do I properly assemble and configure the Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160 for the first time?

Start by attaching the handle to the main body and securing it firmly. For upright steam mopping, attach the steam mop pad; for handheld cleaning, connect the Jet Nozzle to the Steam Nozzle. Fill the water tank with up to 8.45 oz (250 ml) of distilled water—never use cleaning agents. Plug directly into a 120V outlet. Allow a few minutes for the unit to heat up before use. Always refer to the owner’s guide for detailed setup visuals and safety tips[2].

What types of flooring are safe to clean with the Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160, and are there any surfaces to avoid?

The Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160 is designed for most sealed hard floors, including tile, laminate, and sealed hardwood. Avoid using it on unsealed hardwood, unglazed ceramic, or waxed surfaces, as steam can cause warping or remove the sheen. Always test a small area first. Never leave the mop in one spot, as prolonged heat and moisture may damage sensitive surfaces[2].

Why is my Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160 not producing steam, and how can I troubleshoot this issue?

If your SI-160 isn’t producing steam, first check that the water tank is filled (but not overfilled) with distilled or de-mineralized water. Ensure all nozzles and attachments are securely connected. Let the unit heat up for a few minutes after turning it on. If steam still doesn’t appear, unplug the device, let it cool, and check for mineral deposits or blockages in the steam nozzle. Regular descaling with vinegar can help maintain performance[2].

Can I use cleaning solutions or essential oils in the Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160 water tank?

No, you should only use water in the Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160. Adding cleaning solutions, essential oils, or other chemicals can damage the internal components, void the warranty, and may cause injury. For optimal performance and to prevent mineral buildup, use distilled or de-mineralized water. This ensures safe, chemical-free steam cleaning throughout your home[2].

How do I switch between upright steam mop and handheld steam cleaner modes on the Sharper Image SI-160?

To switch modes, detach the steam mop pad for upright floor cleaning. For handheld use, remove the mop pad and attach the Jet Nozzle to the Steam Nozzle. The SI-160 is designed for quick transitions—just ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before changing attachments. This flexibility lets you tackle floors, countertops, and even upholstery with one device, maximizing convenience and cleaning power[2].

What maintenance steps should I follow to keep my Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160 in good working condition?

Regularly empty and rinse the water tank after each use to prevent mineral deposits. Clean the mop pads and nozzles according to the manual’s instructions. Periodically descale the unit with a vinegar solution to remove limescale buildup, especially if you notice reduced steam output. Store the SI-160 in a dry place and inspect cords and attachments for wear. Consistent care extends the lifespan and efficiency of your steam mop[2].

Is the Sharper Image 2-IN-1 Steam Mop SI-160 suitable for sanitizing surfaces, and how effective is it against germs and bacteria?

Yes, the Sharper Image SI-160 uses high-temperature steam to naturally sanitize surfaces without chemicals, effectively eliminating many common germs, bacteria, and allergens. Steam cleaning is especially useful for kitchens and bathrooms. For best results, move the mop slowly over the area to allow heat to penetrate. However, for heavily soiled or high-risk areas, always follow up with appropriate disinfectants as needed[7].

What should I do if my Sharper Image SI-160 2-IN-1 Steam Mop causes interference with other electronic devices?

If your SI-160 causes interference with radio or TV reception, unplug the unit to confirm it’s the source. This device may emit radio frequency energy, which can affect nearby electronics. If interference persists, contact Sharper Image customer support at 833-800-8669 or help@sihomecomfort.com for troubleshooting and potential repair or replacement options. Avoid using extension cords, as they can exacerbate interference issues[2].
