By carefully following the information contained in this document and provided with your product, you can help protect yourself from hazards and create a safer computer work environment.

Note: This information includes references to power adapters and batteries. In addition to notebook computers, some products (such as speakers and monitors) ship with external power adapters. If you have such a product, this information applies to your product. In addition, computer products contain a coin-sized internal battery that provides power to the system clock even when the computer is unplugged, so the battery safety information applies to all computer products.

Power cords and power adapters

• Use only the power cords and power adapters supplied by the product manufacturer.
• The power cords shall be safety-approved. For Germany, it shall be H05VV-F, 3G, 0.75 mm², or better. For other countries, the suitable types shall be used accordingly.
• Never wrap a power cord around a power adapter or other object. Doing so can stress the cord in ways that can cause the cord to fray, crack, or crimp. This can present a safety hazard.
• Always route power cords so that they will not be walked on, tripped over, or pinched by objects.
• Protect power cords and power adapters from liquids. For instance, do not leave your power cord or power adapter near sinks, tubs, toilets, or on floors that are cleaned with liquid cleansers. Liquids can cause a short circuit, particularly if the power cord or power adapter has been stressed by misuse. Liquids can also cause gradual corrosion of power cord terminals and/or the connector terminals on a power adapter, which can eventually result in overheating.
• Ensure that all power cord connectors are securely and completely plugged into receptacles.
• Do not use any power adapter that shows corrosion at the AC input pins or shows signs of overheating (such as deformed plastic) at the AC input pins or anywhere on the power adapter.
• Do not use any power cords where the electrical contacts on either end show signs of corrosion or overheating, or where the power cord appears to have been damaged in any way.
• To prevent possible overheating, do not cover the power adapter with clothing or other objects when the power adapter is plugged into an electrical outlet.

1. Power on the Chromebook by pressing the power button.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to a Wi-Fi network.
3. Sign in with your Google account or create a new one.

Basic maintenance tips

• Keep your computer away from magnets, activated cellular phones, electrical appliances, or speakers (more than 13 cm or 5 inches).
• Avoid subjecting your computer to extreme temperatures (below 5 ℃/41 ℉ or above 35 ℃/95 ℉).
• Avoid placing any objects (including paper) between the display and the keyboard or the palm rest.
• Do not turn your computer over when the AC power adapter is plugged in; otherwise, it could break the adapter plug.
• Before moving your computer, be sure to remove any media, turn off attached devices, and disconnect cords and cables.
• When picking up your open notebook computer, hold it by the bottom. Do not pick up or hold your notebook computer by the display.
• Avoid directly exposing your computer and peripherals to the air from an appliance that can produce negative ions. Wherever possible, ground your computer to facilitate safe electrostatic discharge.

TROUBLESHOOT GUIDE

BASIC CHECKS

1. Remove all accessories: unplug USBs, SD cards, HDMI, etc.
2. Plug in the charger — make sure the LED beside the power port turns amber (charging) or white (charged).
3. Wait at least 30 minutes if the battery is deeply drained.

HARD RESET

Fixes most startup, keyboard, or touchpad issues.

Steps:

1. Turn off the Chromebook.
2. Hold Refresh (⟳) + tap Power once.
3. Release both after 10 seconds.
4. Chromebook restarts — check if the issue is fixed.

BATTERY RESET (FOR DEAD/NO POWER)

1. Unplug the power cable.
2. Hold Esc + Refresh + Power for 10 seconds.
3. Plug in the charger again.
4. Wait 5 seconds, press Power once.

SCREEN / DISPLAY PROBLEMS

If the screen is black or flickering:

1. Press the brightness up key (looks like a sun).
2. Connect an external monitor via HDMI → if the external screen works, the internal panel might be faulty.
3. Try a hard reset (above).
4. Boot into Recovery Mode:
   • Press Esc + Refresh + Power
   • If the recovery screen appears, the display is fine → Chrome OS issue.

WI-FI & NETWORK

1. Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
2. “Forget” network → reconnect.
3. Restart the router.
4. Check date/time (wrong time causes connection errors).
5. If none help → Powerwash (factory reset).

SOUND & MICROPHONE

1. Check volume keys.
2. In the bottom-right corner, click the speaker icon → make sure output device = “Speakers.”
3. Unplug and replug the headphones.
4. Restart the device.
5. If still silent → Powerwash.

BATTERY & CHARGING

1. Use the original Lenovo 45W charger.
2. LED indicator meanings:
   • Amber: charging
   • White: charged
   • Off: no power or bad cable/port
3. If the LED doesn’t light → try another wall outlet.
4. If still dead → battery reset or service.

KEYBOARD / TOUCHPAD

1. Hard reset (Refresh + Power).
2. If the mouse/keyboard is still frozen → Powerwash.
3. If the external USB mouse works, → internal touchpad may be a hardware issue.

CHROME OS SOFTWARE

To update:

1. Click clock (bottom right) → ⚙️ Settings.
2. Select About Chrome OS → Check for updates.
3. Reboot if update installs.

POWERWASH (FACTORY RESET)

Resets system to factory defaults (use only if nothing else works).

Steps:

1. Sign out of Chromebook.
2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R.
3. Click Restart.
4. Select Powerwash → Continue.
5. Chromebook reboots and resets.

CHROME OS RECOVERY

If you see:

“Chrome OS is missing or damaged”

Fix:

1. On another computer, install Chromebook Recovery Utility from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Follow prompts → select “Lenovo Chromebook C330 (or S330).”
3. Insert a USB stick (at least 8 GB).
4. Boot Chromebook into Recovery Mode (Esc + Refresh + Power).
5. Insert USB → reinstall system.

STILL NOT WORKING?

If you’ve done all the above ,,  and Chromebook:

• won’t power on, or
• has a cracked screen, or
• battery won’t charge
