Faqs

How do I set up hive Hub 360 for the first time with my Wi-Fi network?

To set up your hive Hub 360, connect it to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi router as it does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi. Use the Hive app on an iOS device (iOS 9.3.5+) or Android (4.4.2+) to follow the step-by-step onboarding, including Bluetooth 4.0 pairing. Ensure you input the Hub ID found on the bottom of the device to link it to your account. The app will guide you through connecting your Hive devices and configuring sound detection features.

What can I do if my hive Hub 360 is not detecting smoke or carbon monoxide alarms correctly?

If your hive Hub 360 fails to detect smoke or CO alarms, check that the 360° audio detection feature is enabled in the app and the microphone is unmuted. Position the hub centrally in your home to optimize sound pickup. Verify the hub is connected to Wi-Fi and updated via OTA (over-the-air) updates. You can also test detection by triggering your alarm during setup to ensure it records and sends notifications accurately.

What are the key sound detection features of hive Hub 360 and how do they enhance home security?

Hive Hub 360 offers advanced 360° audio detection that listens for critical sounds including smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, glass breaking, and dog barking. When detected, it records audio clips and sends instant notifications to your phone. This feature enhances security by letting you monitor your home remotely for emergencies or break-ins, providing peace of mind even when away.

Can hive Hub 360 work with my existing Hive smart devices and what connectivity does it use?

Yes, hive Hub 360 seamlessly connects to all your existing Hive smart devices like thermostats, cameras, plugs, and lightbulbs using an enhanced Zigbee protocol for improved range and reliability. It connects to your home router via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and supports Bluetooth 4.0 for initial device onboarding, creating a secure dedicated network that ensures all devices work smoothly together.

How does hive Hub 360 perform during internet outages and what happens to my smart home devices?

Hive Hub 360 has built-in internal memory allowing your connected Hive devices and programmed actions (like heating schedules or light controls) to continue functioning even if your internet goes down. It stores up to 7 days of event logs and audio clips locally, ensuring your smart home remains operational and you receive notifications once the internet connection is restored.

What maintenance does the hive Hub 360 require to keep it working optimally?

Maintaining your hive Hub 360 involves keeping it dust-free and placing it in a central, well-ventilated area for optimal sound detection and connectivity. Regularly update the hub firmware via the Hive app to get the latest features and security updates. You should also check the microphone mute setting in-app if you notice missing sound alerts and reboot the device if connectivity issues arise.

Why does hive Hub 360 require a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and is it compatible with 5GHz routers?

Hive Hub 360 is designed to connect over a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network because this frequency provides better range and penetration through walls in typical home environments. It is not compatible with 5GHz Wi-Fi as the hardware supports only 802.11n 2.4GHz. Ensure your router broadcasts a 2.4GHz network or dual-band with 2.4GHz enabled for successful connectivity.

How can I optimize hive Hub 360’s placement in my home for better performance?

To optimize hive Hub 360, place it in a central location away from large metal objects or thick walls that may block Zigbee and Wi-Fi signals. Position it at a height that allows unobstructed 360° audio detection for alarms and glass-breaking sounds. Avoid placing it near loud appliances that could trigger false alerts. Proper placement improves device connectivity and ensures reliable sound monitoring.
